Why is this? My friend has an M93 that doesn't have this issue but with mine you have to cock the hammer before entering the magazine or else it will leak slightly. Is the hammer hitting the release valve slightly too long? Is it because its still fairly new?

I would say that the gun's springs are strong if you say it is new. Shoot the gun a little more, and cock the hammer to make sure the valve knocker spring gets worn in a little. When decocked, the valve knocker will stick out and may accidentally hit the gas release valve if the valve knocker spring is stiff.

So just keep using it, I'd say fire another 500-1000 rounds (I know that's a lot for a gbb) but I'm sure the problem won't persist by then.
