Honestly Id say if anyone really needs an AK right this minute then they should just go ahead and buy a GHK. I've been patiently waiting for the AKG myself, But I bought a GHK AKM a few months ago just to have something to use, and I haven't been disappointed with it, as it is a beautiful gun.

I'm still going to buy an AKG if and when they are ever released however. I got to try one out in person, and it was very nicely made. the recoil left a bit to be desired (The ERG version kicked more) but that isn't a deal breaker for me.

I wouldnt even mind having both the GHK and KWA, as the two are completely different models of firearm anyway, the AKM and the AK74M.

Well, The GHK is hard to beat, externally. They're seriously beautifully made, everything fits tight, and the steel parts are actually properly blued, not just painted. They do have some minor feeding issues if you're using BBs that are too large, which I have now also encountered with my LM4. The GHK also kicks like a beast and is respectably accurate for a GBBR (But nothing to write home about). the GHK also chugs green gas like its going out of style and you can drain a can within a few magazines. And speaking of magazines, the GHK mags are nearly impossible to keep from leaking.

The KWA on the other hand, is not nearly as nice externally, However to me that's not why you buy a KWA. Nor is it actually very important to me at all. I cant speak for the performance of it yet, of course, since i dont know. However, If their other weapons are any indication it will probably outperform the GHK by quite a bit, especially in terms of gas consumption.

The major reason to me, that I would get the KWA is the parts availability. When you have a problem with a GHK you can only really hope that Samoon has them in stock. At least with KWA you can be reasonably well assured that you can get whatever parts you need. And to me that really trumps essentially any other factor in choosing a gun, especially a GBBR.So, given the same model, I would go with the KWA. The ability to keep the gun running in the long term to me is the single most important factor

One thing that disappoints me the most is kwa's externals... Their pistol and smg external are some of the best without going to custom shop. The lm4 really move away from that. Plastic feels like lower grade plastic compared to the ones used in their polymer pistol. The metal finish feel and look unrealistic compared to the m9

Compared to what though? Compared the an actual AR15 the plastic on the LM4 felt pretty close. The only thing slightly off were the forward grip which was a little squishy. The plastic *is* cheap on a real AR15. its not high strength polymer because it doesn't need to be. Its just there so you don't burn your hand.

The finish on the LM4 more or less looks like every other AR15 Ive ever handled. So I'm not sure what you want them to do. The externals of the LM4 mimic a real M4 almost exactly.

Seems Public Enemy has some info:

http://www.publicenemy.com.hk/?p=5112

So an October release for the AKG-74M in Taiwan is expected, with info coming from Action! airsoft online store (could only find it on their Facebook):

https://www.facebook...soft?ref=stream

Not sure if this is US legal, but they're starting mass production now? Anyone got a friend overseas?

The AKG will be a new step forward for KWA. Most of their guns are M4s, with the exception of their SMGs, pistols and the G36. Finally something that's not, I think it will be well worth it.
I do, however, agree that I will not buy the first batch made. I want the flaws to be fixed first, and I will most likely go for the second batch.
I'm fine with waiting, if KWA has been working on this for 2+ years, I expect it to be great.

I always have the opposite problem.  The guns I buy get discontinued within months of my purchase.  The only two guns I have ever bought that are still being produced are the SR10 and my M9 lol

Well, models do come and go but rest assured that you will be able to have them serviced if needed.

Found these on Redwolf they are labeled KWA but not sure if they are mistaken KSC AK's.  Given their airsoft stature I would not think they would make that simple mistake right? what do you guys think?

I don't think it is a mistake, but I also don't think it's the same as the USA version. From what I've seen on other HK retailers' sites, it looks like the KSC/KWA AK-74 GBB is being marketed as the KWA AK74. The USA version however should be called the KWA AKG-74.

Also a small nit-pick but System 7 is the old gas system (called NS2 in the US). The AKG-74 (or equivalent Asia model) should use System 7 2 (FV) like the LM4.

A little bit of a necro post, but I figured this was the most appropriate place. xKingSizex said that the AKG will be out this summer:
