Like the title says, I can't for the life of me get the delta ring off.  It's like it's welded on the receiver.  Any advice?

As I've told you before, I highly recommend you purchase a tool to do this. You could use a AR wrench or a delta ring removal tool. They aren't pricey. You could also TRY to use some sort of channellock pliers if you don't mind damaging your delta ring.

Ugh. This isn't good. The last time is tried removing a stuck delta ring on an airsoft upper, I ended up tearing the front half, where the threads protrude and where the barrel goes in, right off... I used a vice and a delta ring removal tool...

You guys don't understand, gripping the delta ring is seriously no problem.  Using a giant pipe wrench it grips the delta ring just fine.  But there's seriously no way to hold the gun still while spinning it.  I put paper towel on the barrel and clamped it in a vise extremely tightly.  It was very stiff and I was getting like two feet of leverage with a giant wrench and the thing just spins in circles.

The proper way to remove the delta ring is as follows:
  • Remove the front sight and gas tube
  • Use an armorers wrench (yes I know you are using a pipe wrench)
  • Set the lower receiver in a vise using a vise block to hold the receiver properly (Look at Brownells for examples)
  • Apply heat from a heat gun to loosen the bond of the thread lock
  • Turn counter clockwise
Let us know how you make out.

okay so this is what i did before i bought the right tool, you know those hose clamps that are thin metal rings? they sell them at home depot. they have little hollow notches in it. and then there is a part where you can tighten the ring with a crescent wrench. go to home depot buy this i think its called a hose clamp. basically the little notches fit the delta ring notches very nicely. tighten the little bolt till the ring is really secure over your delta ring. then grab a pair of plyers and crank on the bolt till it comes loose. proabably sounds complicated but its the best way to do it without a tool because it doesnt damage your nice stuff you just spent a lot of money on

It wasn't slipping off the delta ring or anything.  There's just no way for me to comfortably secure the gun and give it enough pressure.  I don't want to crack the barrel or the receiver.  Hopefully I can get the barrel assembly out and just dip it in some boiling water to help soften the locktite.
