Looking good!  Did you also notice much less material needs to be filed off the ASAP sling plate? I think the ears/wings on the side can be left unmodified. Just the center raised ring/rib on the inner face that locks into the rear of the receiver needs to be filed.

The Rainier Arms comp is indeed made by PTS.

Yep, I left the wings as they didn't require any modification as the Magpul receiver seems more narrow at the rear than a WA receiver?
That's the impression I get.

I took too much off the raised ring and hence it doesn't lock into place very well, only the stock tube nut is securing it down.

I've always been a BIG fan of Magpul OD so I'm actually eyeing a Midwest Industries SS Gen1 9" rail in OD with a Magpul OD STR and OD MIAD grip but in the UK, MI rails cost somewhere north of $300, twice the price on thier website.

I do hope that when Gunsmodify release their receivers, the threads will allow the mounting of RS rails with little effort

I noticed a lot of people are installing free float rails on their LM4s. While installing another free float rail this evening on one of my LM4s, instead of searching through my spare parts bin for a low profile gas block I decided to do a mod to the OEM front sight. Let me start by saying that this mod most certainly didn't originate with me. Gun smiths and shooters have been doing this and similar modifications to their front sights for many years, but I haven't seen too many airsofters do it. It is in fact a totally legit modification that can be done (and has been done) on real AR15's.

The modification is simple. Uninstall the LM4's OEM front sight and cut off the rear ring of the front sight. Ensure enough of the front sight remains intact to still work with the gas tube. Remove excess material to get a smooth end product. Then use Aluminum Black or matte black spray paint to finish it off:

The end result is super low profile, extremely lightweight, and essentially free.

I've done front sight mods before but never anything as extreme as this. I hadn't considered doing one quite like this until recently when I examined a little more closely my custom 14.5" BCM upper that I got from GandRTactical a while back. Grant had taken a generic front sight, cut it down and reinstalled it like in the above pics. It makes perfect sense really. What is left over is the bare minimum needed to reroute gas back into the upper receiver, and since it's installed within a free float rail and therefore doesn't support a handguard, cutting it like that with just one pin to hold the unit in place is all that is needed.

Ordered a troy industries ambi bolt release. The back looks slimmer than the magpul BAD lever. so we will see if this words without modification.

Ill post my findings when this arrives

You can fit an AEG model but it needs some shaving and cutting to fit.

Do you have the regular lower, or the pts lower. If you have the former. I'd look into the Troy industries version.

Unless someone has information otherwise.

Not 100% sure about the ranger plates, but the rest should work fine.

The Ranger plates will work. But will have to be removed for the fill valve to be exposed. As for the magpul parts. Those will all fit.

ok, thanks for all of your replies. will be purchasing all of these things.

I just want to clarify that aeg stocks, e.g http://www.evike.com...oducts_id=30766
will not fit the kwa lm4, or would this stock fit?

Gas blowback and aeg stocks are not cross compatible.

Gas aeg stocks usually have a different attachment system that the Gas ones.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

When looking for stocks do not look for AEG specific stocks or GBBR specific stocks.  The terms that you should be looking for are MILSPEC or Civilian.  All the buffer tubes on all KWA rifles are MILSPEC and will accept stocks designed for those dimensions. Meaning I can take the stock off my AEG and put it on my LM4 with no worries.

Now Buffer tubes on the other hand ARE Different.  GBBR buffer tubes are attached differently to the lower receiver than AEG's, so if you wanted to change the Buffer tube then you will have to worry about the different designs between GBBR and AEG.

Hope this clears things up.
