I have Mk.2 that I'm trying to strip down to prep for painting, and I am having problems trying to remove the safety levers. I'm not sure if I have to remove the right lever first (loose and has a small indent, that looks like it would fit a flat head), or if the tiny hex screw on the top has to be removed first. I ask this because I have tried to take the levers off like a real 1911 (push lever up, pop pin out) but the lever does not want to go far enough to allow this and I would rather not force it without asking first.

You need to remove the left side of the safety first. The safety needs to be in the safe position first before you can remove it. And you may have to wiggle it a little bit to get it out. And watch out for the safety plunger it will fly out if your not careful.

Then you slide the right up and take it off.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that the lever had to be worked off before i could continue taking it apart.
