i have done this on hicapas before and have been kicking the idea all day so i bit the bullet and jumped in and it was pretty simple to perform "temperailry", its got a much faster cycle time considering it only blows back like a inch. no missloads yet and its quick, like 22 semi pistol quick. the temp way is to put a narrow ring of tape around barrel where you want it to stop. but im going to cut a longer buffer to get the same effect without undue stress on the slide in the area around the barrel.
heres a vid.

Would this help it function better when it is getting low on gas/power? Like when there just isnt quite enough umph to bring it all the way back. I have an ATP and am curious about this.

i dont think gas economy will be effected given the design but it may hepl, i havent put a lot of rounds in it yet but i like it better than stock, slide doesnt lock but it rarely did before anyway.

Gas efficacy shouldn't change.  What will, is the appearance of  a full cycle on a low mag.
