Well, I got bored. I decided to conduct a test on my ATP. I decided to do a freeze test on my gun.
Posted ImageI got my digital thermometer out of my toolbox and stuff ready. Below is a picture of the gun temperature before the test.
Posted ImageI took the thermometer and measured some of the temperatures inside my freezer to see where the coldest spot was, turns out it was right below the ice maker.
Posted Image
I filled the gun with King Arms Green Gas and Elite Force BB's.
Posted ImageI stuck the gun in and started my timer.

I will update when the time has expended.
I set it for 1 hour and 30 minutes btw.

Just to let you know... many engineering structures like bridges are built with safety mechanisms since materials contract and expand due to weather and ever changing temperatures. The structures are also built to account the changing strength of the material due to the temperature as well. When, it's significantly colder, the materials become less flexible and more brittle. Also, some parts are going to contract more than others and cause more stresses within the pistol...

In other words, just be careful in handling your ATP, in and out of the freezer. You definitely do not want to accidently drop your ATP, or slam the slide hard against any hard surface.

EDIT: **However, safety mechanisms for temperature changes aren't the same or obvious in pistols. Most likey, the parts are going to contract more than other parts and cause more stress within the pistol.

I'll try. :blinded:
I'm going to test fire in the name of science. I understand that ALOT of things can go wrong.

An airsoft gun is not designed for those type of temperatures.  So what will this test prove?  :P

The test is done. Here are the results:
I took the gun out of the freezer and ran some temperature tests.
Below is a picture of the temperature reading on the slide
you can't read that, it says 5.6F.Posted Image
Below is a temperature reading on the polymer frame. It is crazy how much warmer it is compared to the slide! The frame reading is 45.5F for those who can't see it. Posted Image
Here is a picture of the gun before firing.
Posted Image
I went outside racked the slide and aimed at a previously setup target. I pulled the trigger to a surprise, it fired, and it kept firing!! I fired FOUR shots before the gun started venting, there simply wasn't enough pressure in the magazine to cycle the slide.
Here is a picture of the magazine after the firing. Notice the frost on the lips and release valve.
Posted ImageKWA, you have made an excellent gun. The fact that it fired even once is an achievement. Up next, Underwater Test. I plan on doing a full assembly after my trip to Florida.

But all joking aside, please do be careful.  Messing with pressurized systems may result in injury and I advise against it.

GUESS WHAT? I actually did something to take safety precautions. I set up some fiberglass shielding, cut a whole for my hands be able to shoot the gun, and wore gloves/ eye protection.
