I just bought a

Heckler & Koch / Umarex Full Metal USP Full Size NS2 brand new from Evike.com. I tried filling the magazine with Worthington propane with a Madbull XG02 propane adapter, but no gas is being transferred. I am holding the magazine vertically, and I have lubed the o-rings on the mag and the propane adapter. Also, the gas release valve near the top of the magazine is easily pressed, with no signs of pressure from within the magazine. Is my magazine a defect or is it the propane/propane adapter?

It's safe to say its the adaptor. Charge nozzle is probably too big.
And you shouldn't be using propane on the NS2 system. It will cause it to cycle too hard and lead to problems.

What propellant do you recommend I use with this gun, and where can I buy it?

You should use Green Gas.  It's sold in any decent airsoft shop.  You can even order online through AirsoftGI or Evike or Amazon.

Is there any way I can confirm that the charge nozzle will be the correct size? Or is it all standard?

Green gas cans use the same size nozzle assuming you buy the green gas that has the nozzle integrated into the valve of the can.  Some brands have a nozzle that needs to be screwed on and these, I have found, are horrible.  The brand that uses these separate nozzle is Power Green.  Though they do sometimes sell the can with the integrated fill nozzle.  The brand I have been using recently is King Arms.  It works very well

Use Airsoft Innovation Propane adapter, no problems.
Madbull ones doesn't like me either.

Ah, I thought the exact same thing 3 months ago, same gun too and same store, yeah propane is about 15 psi higher pressure I beleive, It is annoying that KWA makes their guns too weak for propanethough, I would a happily pay 15$ more for agin that can take propane

Your magazine was fine right? Was it damaged by the adapter? Because I'm kind of paranoid right now, because I have no propellant to test my gun atm.
