I'm just curious .... how many of you are Dads airsofting with your son/daughter?  It would be fun to hear how you or your kids got you into the sport. :)

PS. I airsoft with my 14yr old son. :)

My son just started out. He's got an AK now but I'm getting him an SR7 DEVGRU for his upcoming birthday.

I haven't joined in, *yet*. I'm guessing that the AK will become mine and I'll be on the field very soon.

I play with my 13 year old son. My friend actually got me into it after he started dating a girl with a 13 year old that had been playing. He bought a bunch of stuff and showed it all to me. I held off for a while and then one day he called me from a game and said "Dude, you have got to try this" going on and on about how much fun it was and how much better it was than when we used to play back in the day with Daisy and Crossman(  I know, ). So I started doing some research because if I was going to buy a gun, It HAD to be better than his LOL. I found KWA and it has been a blast since. At first my son didn't think he would like being shot at so I held off on getting him one. Once I had mine we borrowed a gun from someone and he tried it and liked it so I ordered him a KWA. Now it's a great father/son bonding experience that we get to have on Saturdays. That is when he is not too busy with his friends and girls but that's a whole other topic.

My son just turned 7 so he may be still too young to be shot at but he really is a great shot.  You should see what he does with my SR10 when he sees a squirrel about 120ft away (don't worry we don't kill them....lol).  He really wants to play with me so I am currently looking around for gear that will fit his small frame.  I already built him a couple of custom AEG's that he really loves because it's so light and with good rof.  But I am planning on taking him to the field I play at in spring and see how he does.

I play with my son who is 12 and we both have KWA G36c's and I always bring along three of his friends who are 12 as well.  Now my daughter who is 14 wants to start going with us!!
The other day my son looked at me and said "wow dad I think you are more addicted then me"  He is soooo right!!! I love it and the guns are awesome!  I am already planning my next few purchases for building my arsenal....

My son was 8 when we started going.  He is actually the one who introduced me to airsoft.  I usually take him to a place called TN Elite Airsoft because there are a lot of younger kids there.

My girls (5 & 7) will shot my Mk IV in the backyard.  They are too young to be shot at and it would cause the fun to go away.  I want them to enjoy shooting first before they start getting into the games.  So far they love it.  The oldest is a nature at just throwing up the gun and pulling off goodscoring  shots.  The youngest has way better form and patience to get a good shot off.  The youngest will be my sniper.  The oldest is crazy like me...she will dual wield pistols just to upset the boys when she is older.  I know this girl...she loves to "get your goat" if she can.

My son, who is 11, plays and has a blast. I would like to play but I'm 47 and I would just feel funny being out there. The players at our local field are mostly kid and teens. There are a few adults but they are definitely the minority. But I'm happy to see my son having fun with it. I had bb guns when I was younger and when airsoft started taking off I picked up a couple of cheap crossman guns at Dicks and my son and I started shooting them out in the woods by our house. I found out about the nicer guns after looking online and now we have some better quality weapons and I purchased the M9 PTP Tactical for my son for Christmas. He loves it and I do too. It's fun to shoot and is nearly identical to the real weapon. Definitely a quality piece of hardware. Maybe at some point if more adults get involved I'll jump in but for now I'll just watch.

I'm 44 and play with both my sons 12 and 14. We started with paintball and still play. Airsoft is cost friendly especially since they often get a group together. They played private games at our local PB feild before it opened airsoft weekend games.

Garrison,I suggest to go play with your kids before they grow up and don't have time.

I'm 45 and play every weekend, my step son is 18 and is too lazy to play.
In fact the field I play at has a number of guys that are 60 plus and one guy is 70 years old.

I started paintballing with my 10 year old son 21 years ago. Now we are waiting for the twin 3 year old grandsons to get a wee bit older so we can shoot them. Nothing like shooting  your kid who thinks it is fun to shoot his dad. Six months after we began playing the kid would always be on the other side from me. 25 years later the kid always has his Dad's back.

If not for Airsoft we would never have any time alone together.....

During Christmas my daughter and son in law began playing with us. My daughter tried paintball when she was in high school and did not like it. 20 years later she fell in love with Airsoft.

Peace

My kids actually started me in airsoft......they needed to get "Bank of Dad" involved to get better gear.

I was into "competition" 1/10 scale RC cars. And now, being  too old for that, im theCrew Chief for my 12 year old son.

I do find its sad to see how far behind AEGs are in electronics.

We had access to better brushed motors in the mid 80s, that were fully tunable.

But, it seems like a great sport/hobby?

Since my son likes Guns more then Cars, here i am. Im just enjoying every Minute i could spend with Him.
