And it voids my warranty if I replace the spring? And if my local shop does it? Or do I need to send it to KWA? Thanks.

Cutting the spring is a bad idea. Cutting the spring increases the chance of it binding on itself.

On the warranty issue
Send it to KWA. Having your local shop do it does not guarantee the work is done correctly. The tech might be very good or very bad but KWA is not involved in their training so KWA can't back up the work they do.

Opening of the GB by anyone other than KWA during the 45 days warranty period will void warranty.

This would be a direct to KWA question. Is it possible to order a complete gearbox from the Pro Shop, but also request to have a CQB friendly spring installed prior to shipping?

We are currently out of stock of complete gearboxes, but we can do a spring change on it once we get them back in stock.
