This post is over a year old.  You should start a new thread next time.

Superfrog; this post is relevant to my situation and personally I would rather complete an old post with the answer than start a new one, because I wish other people would do that to make finding answers to questions a little more easier.

I notice you have been telling me what to do a lot on the forum this last couple of weeks superfrog. Post in another thread, start a new thread. If you are not answering, clarifying, or asking for information maybe you are just antagonizing. If you like telling people what to do and not answering the question at hand, i recommend that you should have a kid or get a dog or something else than telling me what to do.

Peace

I was looking at the wall at Airsoft Atlanta yesterday, and I noticed they had a set of (SHS I believe) 9mm bushings on the wall for $7.99.

Considering I just sent away to the airsoft club in Hong Kong and waited over a month for the 5KU bushings what a deal.

The 5ku bushings did fit well in the KWA V3 GB. It left me plenty of room for shimming in a set of 13:1 SHS speed gears shimmed bevel to motor pinion. The flange is 0.6mm thick and they sit lower than the KWA bearings sit on the inside. The flange extends into the gearbox by about 0.1mm proud.  I needed .75 on the SHS gear or .5mm on the bottom of the KWA (self shimming) bevel gear.to get it up  to the Lonex A2 Torque motor aligning bevel to pinion.

On the outside of the GB they sit about 0.4mm proud. I had to grind the one under the selector plate down to get it lower than flush with the outside of the GB. Although the 5KU bushings are of questionable finish, the fit is good and they are very hard. Filing them did not do much. I had to build a jig and hit them with the 7" bench grinder wheel to shave that one down.

Not the best workmanship on the 5KU's

I tried filing the outside down with a rather large file. I measured with caliper and pushed this very hard stainless steel bushing into it with my finger and rubbed it till it got hot. Again and again. Less than a  hundreth of a mm each time it got to hot to touch. This would clearly take forever. The face did not need to be flat so some brute force was required.

The jig I built to grind the outside of the bushing so I does not stick out of the GB under the selector plate.

This is how they sit inside of the GB. Just very slightly proud, 0.10 mm measured, as indicated visually by the sanding I did to remove the super glue that holds them into the GB. Posted Image

I think SHS only makes 9mm bearings and not solid bushings.
And thanks for the write-up. Very useful information.

Whatever they were I remember saying to myself, "damn I wish they had these before I ordered the 5KUs from Hong Kong. 94.31% sure they were 9mm bushings on the wall lower left hand corner with big 7.99 on it.

Had a blast with SRC Gen II G36c--. 300 fps 25.5 RPS at SS today.
Also played with my new $60.00 CA G36c. 350fps ~~~~~~16rps stock. Nice gun. I need to install the UTG dot site I got for it.

My kids favorite gun is MY ATP with the FPG 50 mag. He owns the field with that pistol. Told him he has to get one of his own. Cant believe we are getting 5-6 full 50 round refils per gas up out of that thing. Amazing.

I have a thread in the ATP section where I weighed the gas calculated the shots per gram of green-gas. Love that ATP.

I bought a set of the 5KU bushings for my constantly bursting mechbox. Stupid bearings destroyed both a mosfet and a Lipo, and nearly set me on fire :)

Went to Airsoft Atlanta again today. Let there be no doubt. They have 9mm SHS bushings on the wall right next to the fire extinguisher. 7.99.

Ive got a set of those. Tell me what you do to make them work! They fit terrible (really loose). And the BIGGEST problem is that they stick outside the gearbox a little and it is near impossible to get the gearbox to fit back into the gun's shell (lower reciever shell?). They where the root of all my problems with my gun!

It will be 4-6 weeks before I install them in my DMR.

From what I can tell from an empty KWA 2gx shell I have laying around, they sit Flush with the inside of the shell compared to the slight rise that the stock 9mm ball bearing bushings have. They do stick out of the gearbox shell slightly where as the stock Bushings do not. I don't think this should cause any issue installing into the receivers but will not know for sure until I try it.

LemonTree.
If I remeber correctly, you sighted an alignment issue with your motor and bevel gear that you attributed to these solid bushings.
I may suggest that a propper shim job would solve that and based on how these solid bushings sit Flush inside the gearbox shell, a shim job would be required.

Got my KWA DMR gearbox open for maintenance and some changes.
This will be my first time using these 5KU 9MM Solid Bushings.
After cleaning my gearbox shells and gears, I decided to get a preliminary run through of these gears under way.

Some initial thoughts:
- The fit is right.
They do not, however, snap in like KWA's stock Ball Bearing Bushings.
They fit like a JG set of solid bushings fit in its respective gearbox shell.
They will fall out if you turn the gearbox shell upside down.
So to close the shells, you have to place the Bushings on the gears first, then close the shell on top of it.
Posted Image

Posted Image

- Shimming is 100% necessary.
For those who want a shimless featured gearbox, this will not accommodate that.
The amount of "play" is quite noticeable.
Matter of fact, the stock KWA gears would not even spin one revolution without some shims placed underneath the Spur Gear.  I placed .04mm's worth of shims under the Spur Gear just to get a feel for the revolution of the gears in these Bushings. It was nice and smooth and I like what I see.

- Clearance:
These Bushings do protrude farther outside the gearbox shells than the stock KWA Ball Bearing Bushings. I, however, see no issue with the Selector Plate clearing the Bushings as have been reported by some. That may be an issue in a Gen1 Gearbox, but even if I press all the Bushings with gears towards the Selector Plate Side, it still clears with no issue.
Posted Image  Posted Image Over-all. my first impressions are very good.
There is one Bushing that seems to have a little bit smaller ID than the others, but still fits the gear axle just fine. I will probably bore that out .01/.02mm's just to make sure it is able to spin freely on the gear axle.

Can't wait to see these in action.
