Simple question, I need to know how long the KM16 handguards are, I'm looking at different RIS's on airsoft GI, but they have multiple length's offered for M16's, I'm assuming some of the longest ones are for removing the front sight. If you have any suggestions for a good RIS under $100 i'd appreciate it, also looking for a good red dot as well.

I have a Free float RAS that's 12.5" long at fits on the M16.

JBU make one at 12.5"
Madbull also have one call Dragon Fire at 12.5"

12.5" should be the correct length.

How sturdy is the outer barrel when it doesn't have the extra suppor with hand guards like it is stock? Also can I use a Prom. 6.03mm tight bore with the KWA stock bucking and chamber or is it too fat?

Excellent question.  I would advice to keep the gas tube and it will help to stabilize the outer barrel.  There are currently 4 set screws near the base of the barrel nut, you need to check them from time to time make sure it's all secure.  The 2009 model should eliminate this issue.

Thanks. I have to haggle with a budget here, what I want to know is will a flip up front battle sight work with the stock handguards? I ask because what I'm thinking of doing is sticking with the stock grips, using a flip up battle sight and AMP SF red dot. I want to be able to revert to iron sights on occasion with little modification, and I don't want to raise the sight higher than need be to reduce paralax on about $150 budget because I want a TB and H-nub  as well.

this is rather subjective but I don't think a flip up sight will work on a stand hand grip.  Most of the flip sight usually combines with some type of rail system.  Do a bit of photo search on how military DMR looks and you'll know what I mean.

I understand. I have come up with an alternative that is affordable, I found a King Arms Flip up front sight and Olympic Arms RIS for TM M16's. A friend of mine has the OA for his M733 and it seems to be of good quality and fits snugly on the M733, so hopefully this will do well on my KM16. The KA flip up front sight is also for marui M16 series, so I think I should be ok there as well.

Thats the one thing that dissapointed me about the JP kit, going into it I didnt know how the barrels attached, I thought one screwed into the other, not one into the gas block. I wanted to replace it with a  flip sight to give it a SPR look, but Im jsut going to purchase a RIS mounted flip, costy though.
