The plastic barrels works as a impact buffer for the NS2 system. All KWA NS2 pistols ship with polymer barrels including the upcoming HK MK23.  Metal barrels are available as an accessory for most models but not recommended for long term use.

I actually like the poly outer barrels. I mean, you can't really tell that they're plastic, and they work great!

Polymer barrel doesn't bother me as well.

With metal barrel on my old Glock... *ahem* M series.  It's all scratched up.  I don't like it.

I like the idea of plastic as a generic barrel considering the surface is always slick(requires less oil) and when it gets scratched up, it doesn't change colors.
