Hi guys.

I am new to airsoft and purchased a KWA M4S. I love the gun in fact I was into bb guns and wanted full auto when someone pointed me to airsoft. To be honest I thought they were toys since all I saw were the plastic ones in Wallmart ect. Since getting the M4 I also purchased an AK and plan to get a few more. I am not really interested in the Mil Sim rather just shooting for fun in the back yard. I want to see what I can get out of this gun. I purchased a madbull 150 spring and already opened the gear box. I put in a JBU tight bore and went to put in the M150 spring but it's longer that the spring in there.

Did I get the wrong spring or are they like that? It didn't seam like it would go in.

Not to be a d*ck or sound like one but I am not worried about breaking parts. I want to see where this can go with just a spring upgrade and TB. If the piston or gears break I want to see when and how. I have already shot 10k rounds thru this gun and there is little or no wear on the piston. I already purchased a JBU Alum piston to test after the KWA one goes. I think it could help the forum to.

Thanks,

John

M150 on stock gears and motor?  hmmm... give it 2 mags  max.  You have to change the gears with a lower ratio to handle the spring tension and put little stress on your motor. You should be shooting 520+ FPS with .25s hehe! nice!

Yes any spring for v2 gearbox will fit.  I would strongly suggest that you change your gears if you plan to use an m150.  Prometheus Triple Torque would be the best m150 gears out there.  Update us with your progress! good luck!

I want to see what the stock ones will do and how long they will last. I am ordering a chrono to see what fps are.

Thanks for the replys. Would the prometheus gears fit the gearbox? What about the stock motor.

The stock gears are not meant for an m150. If you have driven a stickshift. It will be like driving your car in 5th gear without shifting to a lower gear.Try it and see how hard it is to start from 5th gear.  Alot of stress on the gears and the engine.  The stock motor can only handle the m150 if you  have STU, Triple torque, MAX torque, Infinite gears etch.

The KWA gearbox will take any V2 gearset.

KarMeister....  as far as I know and Radix can correct me.   KWA's Gear can indeed take M150 spring.  They are actually shipped with M150 spring on some models in Taiwan.  We also sold about quite a bit with M150 spring to Law Enforcement.

I've heard Radix say that before.

Yea kwa gears seem pretty dense. If your motor is aligned right I don't see why you would have a problem. The only thing I would be hesitant about is the sector gear, you might want to get a super torque up sector gear. If you have a strong battery the motor will probably be able to pull an m150 no problem, with out weakening.

I don't know much about V2s, but wouldn't the shell crack pretty quick with an M150 even though it is reinforced?

The KWA gearbox is  MADE to take stress. I bet it could handle it

I would care less about the gearbox if your setup is not going to fire enough rounds to put hairlines on it. I have yet to see a stock ration gearset with an m150.
I have no question about how strong the gears are. If they are strong enough then its still puts stress on your motor.  Just like Driving uphill in 5th gear stress on your motor stress on your gears.

Supracer is willing to test this on his gun. lets see hat happens

Normal gearbox yes... not the same with KWA gearbox.  Put it side by side and you can see where the reinforcement on the KWA shell.  It is not indestructible, but it's a lot stronger then normal gearbox.

How long would you give the shell?  An M150 is a huge amount of stress.

my normal TM v2 gearbox took 40k+ rounds before i saw the first hairline. The KWA can no doubt take more

Yes, many LE customers order the KWA M4s with M150 springs. But one very important thing to keep in mind is they don't use the gun in "full auto".

How about the gears Radix? Are they the normal ratio gears? or are ther STU or Infinite KWA gears?
Most of my teammates are shooting auto with an m170. SHooting 500- 650 fps really makes a diff. You can get better "frags"  becaus ethe bb gets from point A to B alot faster!  hehehe

An ASAHI can go 700+ FPS with blistering ROF!  Prob why they stopped making em ehehe. Ayway anyway around 530 for a field gun would be decent enough. You wouldnt want to be playing with a 350FPS AEG against 550 or something like that.  Prob why airsoft is considered an "extreme sport" here.

Back on topic:

I really woudnt be surprised if KWA releases STU ration gears since they have an LE version with an M150. Those  guys from Taiwan  (KWA)would know better about making those.

Just ordered a F1 chrono and will test when it gets here. Just going to drop the m150 spring in. I'll take a pic of the piston before I do it. Will be using a 11.1v 15c li-po since thats what I used so far. I will test on full auto. I need to order a new clip mine jammed and something came loose and now doesn't feed. I have the A&K auto elec drum and that sucks. About a week for the mag and chrono to get here.
