Anodizing, or anodising in British English, is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. This makes them less likely to crack and peel from aging and wear, but more susceptible to cracking from thermal stress.

Yep just Aluminum, this is why in Washington DC they have a copper pike crown ontop of the washington monuement to prevent the small Aluminum pyramid from turning black from lightning strikes  :thumbsup:   Little bit of history class lol but fun to know.  Lol sometimes if you don't do it right, you get a greenish blue color.
