I have finished the frame and slide.  The only thing left is the barrel.  I have a metal one coming.  Should I leave it black or sand/polish it silver?

If anyone is wondering how I did this, here is my method.  I have done this to two other gas pistols, and I think this is the easiest way to do it without spending too much on sandpaper.  The price really jumps up at about 1000grit.  You really shouldn't need more than like an 11 by 9 inch sheet of each which is a pretty standard size.  It will last longer if you use it wet (just with water).

1) strip the gun completely (including the slide), you can leave the hammer mechanism in
2) tape off/stuff the hammer mechanism with a tissue/paper towel so nothing gets in
3) personally I think it is easiest to start with 60grit sandpaper and go easy on it
4) 320grit
5) 400grit
6) 1000grit
7) 1500grit
8) polish if you want
9) clean it out, put it back together, and shoot!
10 MAKE SURE TO LUBRICATE THE GUN.  It will become completely dry by the time you are done.  Firing gas pistols dry of lube usually does not cause harm, but it will function pretty rough.
**always sand everything in one direction, and then go over it again in the opposite.

You may need to take it apart again after testing it for cleaning purposes.  You should only have to take apart the slide UNLESS you did not properly protect the hammer area.  That will get you in trouble.  The area most likely to be an issue is the area around the gas valve.  I can't remember what it's called.  The thing that moves back and forth LOL.  That may stick when you rack the slide when the mag is in, if you have not cleaned around the slide properly.  The weird thing is it will be fine when the mag is not in.

Black looks good to me.  Why the two tone barrel?

Personally If I were to do this, which it certainly does look cool, I would keep the guide rod and the barrel the same color. Since you've sanded the guide rod, I would suggest sanding the metal barrel as well, but that's just my preference. Aside from that, looks good!

I like the black barrel look. I think it goes well with the black in the cocking serrations and safety area.

Ohhhh. That one is just temporary.  I put it in to see what it would look like black because the other one didn't come yet.  Plus I wanted to make sure everything was working too.
