I got this gun from my friend  little while back, and I'm trying to take it apart so that I can spray paint it, but I don't want to paint anything that doesn't need to be. Therefore I'm taking out all the internals and any externals I don't want to risk painting. I'm about to take off the upper receiver to take out the internals, but I haven't been able to get off the stock. I took off that actual butt, but I still have the rod attached and I can't figure out how to get that off. Is it something I  have to do inside that I can only get to by taking off the upper?

If you have the LE stock you will need to remove the cap off the end, there is a phillips that secures the cap to the stock tube. After you take that off look down the stock tube there should be another screw that secures the tube to the lower receiver.

Thanks, that did the trick! Although, the screw for my cap isn't a Phillips. Its a small Allen screw. So if anybody else has this problem, it might not be a Phillips. Thanks though!

Do you by chance know if there is a topic on here about taking the whole gun apart? I can't find one and I can't get my gearbox out. There's one more pin that seems to be holding it in and i can't figure out which one or where it is. So if you know of a topic or can find a diagram, it would be a lot of help. Thanks!

If you could take some pictures that would help.

I actually found a YouTube video that showed me how to take it apart. The last "pin" is the mag release. Thanks for your help though!
