I opened up an old KWA today to do some maintenance. I noticed that the spring was grey. I had this gun serviced a few years back by a tech, and I believe the the spring was replaced. However, I am not sure. What color are the normal KWA M120/M130 springs? Are they silver?

On a side note, the 2009 KWA I opened up had perfect internals after several years of use. The piston rack looked perfect despite no gear shimming.

The KWA springs are black.  However many years of use may cause them to appear silver.  If you post a picture we can more than likely tell you if it is a KWA spring.

This spring is either a Guarder SP110 or KWA M120. The other spring is installed in the KWA at the moment and is completely silver-colored. This spring is a dull grey. Which one do you think it is?

Also, this grey spring is shorter than the silver spring.

The length is the determiner but my guess is that it is a KWA spring that is pictured.  So how long is it?

The one pictured was 14cm long. The silver colored one was longer by several cm.

I have never seen a KWA stock Main Spring any color other than black/grey. Even after hundreds of thousands of rounds, they are black/grey. Unless something is different now with KWA manufacturing of Main Springs, I don't think silver would be a KWA spring.

I pulled out the grey spring from my KWA and put the silver spring back in a few days ago.

A couple years ago, this KWA was shooting about 430 FPS. I went to a local tech and asked him to bring it down to 400 FPS. He told me he would install a weaker spring (Guarder SP110). I'm trying to figure out which spring is which. If he really did switch the M120 for the SP110, than the grey spring which was already installed in this gun before I opened it should be the SP110 and the silver the M120. If the M120 is the grey, then that tech simply cut the M120 and tricked me into purchasing the SP110.

All the pictures online of a Guarder SP110 show it as being grey/black. Is it possible the silver is the M120 with the paint worn off? I doubt an oil-tempered Guarder spring would lose its grey color because of how well it is made (no offense meant to the KWA company).

The shorter spring is likely the KWA. All my KWA's have come with short springs, and all my upgrade springs have been long.

I do want to point out that this KWA was made in 2009. It was one of the first 2GX KWAs made. The spring has the irregular pitch, like the Guarder, making it difficult to decide which is which.

I want to believe you guys, but I'm fairly certain the tech did install the Guarder SP110 which makes the grey spring I took out the Guarder spring. Or at least I really hope he did.
