okay so i know everyone will hate me for this but, does anyone know an exact count of how many shims on each side of the shell to get a precise shim job? all my parts are stock all of the gears are stock, i dont really have a problem finding out by myself but i just thought i could save some time, so do you guys know? thank you

There's no real number you have to put on each side of the gear shaft. You just have to add and take away until you get the desired results.

Search Principles of Shimming and Bevel/Pinion Method.

General Advice.
- If you are using the stock KWA Ball bearing bushings, it is a good idea to use at least one shim on the axle of each gear. This will displace force and heat, so it will protect them. The smallest shims I know of are .01. So, those will be fine.

- Definitely make sure there is a shim under the Spur Gear.

- Do not over-shim the gears.

- You will simply have to research for there is a lot of info on shimming in the airsoft forum universe.

To reiterate, there is no magic number of shims.  I have a heavily used old 2GX with no shims running at 455+ FPS and 30 RPS.  My son's RIS has one shim under the spur (also an old 2GX Ser # 0006).  It will depend on the age of the gear box, gearbox parts, and spring tension.
