Hi All,
Last year I got into building AR-15 rifles. This year I am working on an SBR line after ATF Form 1 approval.
As a training tool the LM4 and LM4C are great ways to practice. So I decided to take a base LM4C, strip it to the lower and make a custom GBB rifle after some harsh lesions from trying the same with a LM4. Parts from KWA, along with real steal modifications from Magpul, was enough to garner some experience to tackle a full blown retrofit. With only the tools used to built the AR, and a file from Home Depot, a rough effort was refined to make an acceptable rifle. It is not something I would take to Shotshow and show off, but it closely matches my real steal AR.
One of the issues I have had is the magazine dropping out of the magwell. I think the problem is the magazine release, which does have some wobble on the perpendicular to the pin. I include some photos. Is there a magazine release that is not stock that provides real steal retention of the magazine? I know this is a training tool and enjoy it much in its current configuration, but would like some help to solve this problem.

Thanks!
Michael Rebar

This is the only aftermarket magazine catch I'm aware of for the KWA LM4. It is made from parkerized steel. The site says it's for KSC M4, but it is compatible with the KWA LM4, and also the new PTS Mega Arms.

I'm quite confused about what you are trying to say exactly. If I understand correctly, you want to use an Ambi-Catch with an LM4? IIRC to use catches not specifically designed for the LM4, you need to shorten the shaft.

I had the same problem on my LM4C. I wasn't using the same mag release as you but I was using the stock one. The problem I saw was that part #51, the impact block sleeve, was a bit too long, not allowing the mag release to come into the receiver enough to fully catch the magazine. My quick fix was to create a groove on the back side of the mag release post/pole in order for the mag release to fully seat in to the receiver.
