Hey guys! I'm looking to do a Mk18 Mod1 build on my just-broken-in KWA KM4 SR7. The gun itself is extremely close to a Mk18 Mod0, but I've been looking, and pondering well...I'd sure like a Mk18 Mod1...but it occurred to me that my SR7 has the same outer barrel length, the right performance profile, and just about all the right stuff for the Mod1 build. My question lies in these points:

Will finding a low-pro gas block to fit the stock outer barrel be problematic? Will the Madbull/Noveske work?

Will the Daniel Defense Mk18 9.5" RIS be a simple fit?

Are there any other obstacles in the way?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you asking what gas block to buy, then you don't even need a new one, in fact it's just for realism/looks.

Yes, the DD should be as easy as 1 2 3, if you know what mean, if you need help there are many vids on the interweb

Well...being a former Marine, and an Active competitive shooter as well as an avid airsofter...I can not stand an anatomically incorrect M4. Other weapons might be a little easier to get used to...but an M16/M4 variant without a gas block? That will not happen, not under my watch. I'll keep it bone stock before that happens.

I'm very aware that the gas block, who's sole purpose is the re-direction of propellant gasses is not functional on a gun that is powered by an electronically driven piston. My question is which would be suitable for an accurate replica?

Thanks for the info on the RIS, though.

These are the gas blocks that I am considering, and hoping to hear from one of the Guru's on if they will work.

I'm planning on using the stock outer barrel, a gas block, and a Madbull Daniel Defense 9.5" Mk18 in DE or Black to complete this build.

It's currently out of stock, but I think you can find it on ebay for less.

I know for a fact that this one works.
here it is on my KWA RIS outer barrel.

Ok, part of the issue is going to be the fact that the DD rail is not drilled for a fake gas tube. And because of the profile of the SR7's outer barrel, and DD rail, your best bet might be to:
  • Drill a hole in the DD rail for the existing gas tube
  • Cut down the tower/gas-block and refinish it to look like a low profile gas-block.  When done properly it is a great look
The real MK 18, as far as I know, has a special profile on the barrel that would require a short, low profile, gas block.  Unless you are swapping the outer barrel, this type of GB will not fit properly. I would cut down the tower if I were you.

Keep in mind that would require sourcing the proper outer barrel and gas-block.  The place to start would be Madbull airsoft.  Here is what a low profile for you SR7 barrel looks like and can be made by cutting down the tower. Follow link: http://madbull.com/c...age.196x147.jpg

PS - I can find no definitive image on the MK18 gas block.  But from what I do know this would be very close: http://www.airsoftgi...roducts_id=6486

Again this would need the appropriate new outer barrel.
