Hey guys, I'm looking to put together an LM4 made specifically to be a light-weight rifle. I have some ideas on what I want to do, such as add in a Noveske NSR 11inch rail and change the 14.5inch outer barrel to an 11.5 or 12inch one. After this, i don't really know what else to put on the rifle so I'm asking through your experience are there any good, lightweight parts out there? I was thinking about keeping the MOE stock but I don't know if there are any lighter, better options?

I was also wondering about any modifications that could be done to loose weight in the magazine area, or anywhere on the rifle in general?

Thanks for your time and any input is greatly appreciated.

Hey there! Just as a heads up, it would seem that the LM4 PTS, and all other Magpul products, has been temporarily discontinued, though we have yet to hear a straight answer from KWA themselves. This also applies to the PMags, in case you're wondering.

If you want the PTS version I'm sure you could find somebody willing to sell a lightly used one, though I'm pretty set on keeping mine! I digress; if you want to save weight then forget about the PMags anyway, since they weigh about 150% as much as the STANAG magazines. It's a sacrifice I'm perfectly happy to make, but you may want to consider that difference. I just got my first set of MBUS sights and I must say I'm extremely happy with how they work and how light they are, so if you're even going to run 'iron' sights you may want to do those. In my experience, the MOE stock is definitely light enough, but I think I've seen a few options which are more skeletal on various airsoft websites. The only other real part I could suggest would be the PTS SSG selector switch, which gives you sweet ambidextrous selectors and changes the levers from steel to polymer, thus shaving a little extra weight. Again, it's a Magpul licensed product so I'm unsure if it's still being made. Other than that I suppose it would all come down to what accessories you feel are necessary to have (flashlights, vertical grips, etc.) and which parts will need to stay off the gun(M203's, huge scopes, etc.).

Oh, well that explains why I couldn't find pmags anywhere. Hmm… So any ideas if the magpul stuff will come back around or is it gone for good? (opinion wise, I understand theres no hard facts at the moment)

From what we've heard, it's a temporary lock down on Magpul products because of the massive amount of knockoff products coming into the country. For airsofters, we didn't care, but the real issue was when these fake products would find their way into military hands of real steel shooter hands. As far as I can tell it would seem that Magpul is very true to their word (as seen during the Colorado gun ban political firestorm) and is in favor of maintaining a good relationship with the airsoft community, so it would seem logical that they will eventually begin licensing products for airsoft once again. KWA has had some strange things happen over the last year or so, particularly the dispute with KRISS which has yet to be explained by anybody at all, so I wouldn't totally rule out the possibility of a permanent discontinuance. My fingers are crossed for sure, since I was getting really excited for the KWA Masada...
