KWA gears are forged and indeed heat treated.  Every once in awhile we find a few gears that have been over "cooked" causing it to become too brittle and shatter.  I have experienced this with a sector gear but replaced with another stock KWA gear and it's 150K and counting.

An update. Got a replacement KWA spur gear.
Cleaned the gears, greased with superlube, 25wt shock oil in the chamber.
Installed the Chimera mosfet.
Required re-shimming the sector gear so that the sector gear lobe properly engages the switch on the trigger module.
Ripple effect, so I reshimmed the rest of the gears.
Rate of fire jumped up 2rps, now with a fully charged lipo getting 27 rps.
Happy with the results, met the goal, shooting 400 fps with .2s using the angel custom 407mm 6.01tbb, and the stock M120 spring.
Be interesting to see how durability pans out.

The Chimera is one slick unit. Cool to play with all the modes, works well, from what I can tell.
