I want to add either a Prometheus barrel or the KWA tightbore barrel 6.03, that is longer and goes into my suppressor and according to my calculations I need a 455mm barrel in length and i would have to cut it down about 1/2" I see the barrels advertised but they say they are for a Tokyo Mauri AK will the barrel fit and work in my KWA?

To use a 425mm barrel on a sr7 wouldn't he have to change the cyl. To one from sr10 or ris?

Perhaps.  The type one on the SR7 will easily accommodate 395MM the 425mm is a bit much but his FPS should still increase from the 350FPS that he's at now.  Ultimately, the type 0.5 cylinder would be ideal....but not mandatory.

The reason I inquired about the longer 455mm barrel is because I have a 364mm longer tightbore in it now..my suppressor is about 3" longer than my barrel..now I don't know about anyone else..but that 3" gap between the tip of the barrel and the exit hole of  the suppssor, something happens when the bb's pass that area..and rather than a tight stream shooting out..they go off in a wide crazy pattern..not all of them..but a lot of them..something changes their flight pattern with that gap..the barrel must go all the way to the end of the suppressor...how do I know..because when I take the suppressor off..I get a perfect straight line of bb's..

When I added this new tightbore barrel..I also changed the cylinder along with the barrel..also..cutting a longer tightbore to fit it not hard..a good dremmel with a metal cutting wheel and a super fine file does well..

measuring from where my hop up is to the end of my suppressor measures 17-1/4"+- a 455mm measures 17.9mm which I believe is about right in order to get it to the end of the suppressor..I have a tightbore in it now that is 364mm which is about 3" too short and I had the cylinder swapped out to accommodate the additional length of this new barrel, not sure if the cylinder would need to be swapped out for the even longer barrel as well

What cylinder did you put in?

The tech at my local airsoft store upgraded the cylinder to accommodate the new longer tightbore..I don't know which cylinder he installed..I do know he gave me back the original cylinder that came with the gun

Truth be told the Type 1 that came with your gun is fine for a carbine length (395mm) barrel.  A type .5 KWA cylinder is best suited for a 425MM lenght barrel.  If you post a pic of the new cylinder we can comment on the compatibility.  At the end of the day, so long as you like the performance, that's all that matters IMO.

I will see if I can find out from the tech just what cylinder was installed, but my original question stands..will a  455mm prometheus barrel work even though the advertisement says for a Tokyo Mauri AK?

Regarding the cylinder, you simply need to crack open the upper receiver to see the type of cylinder.  Post a pic showing the position of the port and we can tell you.  Not sure about the Prome barrel....

Im thinking, i wasn't able to use a "TM" style barrel in my KWA. I could be wrong.

If it does fit, this is the size without cutting the barrel. FWIW, the KWA barrel's are a bit pricy, i own one, there work great!. I like 6.02s

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about having to "cut down" a tightbore barrel?  I have done it and it seems fine..i used a dremmel with one of those abrasive cutting wheels and then I crowned the inside to remove the burrs? my question is does this hurt the barrel any or ruin it somehow? has anyone else cut one of the tightbore barrels to proper length?

Ive cut two, no problems. Prometheus is stainless steel 6.03 KWA is brass 6.02 with a teflon coating, and its made in Japan.
Do you have problems with 6.02 barrels?
I have crowned with a large BB, cloth and some abrasive paste, someone gave me at work.

And straight cut one with a fiberglass reenforced cutoff disc. Used a hand reamer & some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper to remove any burrs
Both worked fine.

Teflon coating? On KWA?
