They're both VERY respectable, and while I personally prefer Rush's style and Neil Peart's style they both deserve the title.

That being said, I've been really captured by new wave retro at the moment: http://www.youtube.c...eature=playlist

This looks like the solo Peart played at Rich's memorial concert. Keep in mind im posting great drummers. My favorite is Ginger Baker. Enjoy!

"Early in his career, Peart's performance style was deeply rooted in hard rock. He drew most of his inspiration from drummers such as Keith Moon and John Bonham, players who were at the forefront of the British hard rock scene.[2] As time passed, however, he began to emulate jazz and big band musicians Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich."

Portnoy is amazing, i never seen him play such a small kit. He was all over it. Great Video. Looks like a day Preston will never forget!

Not that it means $hit anymore, but another great drummer that wont get into the hall of fame.

Im happy for RUSH, they should have declined. Bands like Dream Theater, yes, ELP, Moody Blues (70 million albums sold) And a few others wont get in. That Progressive rock rule.

That was bent for: Pink Floyd, Genesis & RUSH. All Prog Rock Bands!

ELP: two of the greatest, Carl Palmer is in the top ten drummers & Keith Emerson is in the top five for keyboardist.

ABBA & Madonna are in. Ive been listing to Rock Radio for decades, never heard one madonna song.
Did anyone actually take ABBA serious?

Bass solos clear out the house. My wife: "How can you sit there and listen to a 5 minute bass solo"

Vic Wooten, seen him with Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. Looks like Marcus Miller didnt like the introduction.

Im not a big fan of Joe Satriani, A little too fast for my likings. It was his Bass player that blew my mind.

Stu Hamm: His thumb @ 2:18 doesn't look like a body part.

Agreed, i met a "fan" outside when Benoit David was the lead singer. He told me who needs Jon? this guy sounds just like him.
1st no he didn't sound like Jon & 2nd if it wasn't for Jon he won't have anything to sing.

W/O Jon they have to play smaller venues, this leads to less security. So after the show i walked on stage & found one of Steve Howe's Guitar picks
It in a frame with Roger Deans artwork

gcw, Can you correct the thread title from listing to listening. It sounds like a maritime disaster. Or that Bklyn grammar thing
