Hello everyone!

I have an older KWA KM4S.  The only modifications made have been the installation of an EdGI tightbore barrel, a 2GX bucking, and a downgraded spring, all shortly after purchasing the gun.

After using this gun for a couple of years, it became possible to pull the trigger when the gun is on Safe.  There is a slight bit of resistance, followed by the trigger moving smoothly, as if it were on Fire.  The gun does not actually fire when this is done, but it is still annoying to me with respect to realism.

I am guessing that the problem is a worn selector plate, but before I tear into the gun, I would like to hear from others, to see if I am on the right track.  Is a worn or damaged selector plate the most likely culprit?

Thanks for any advice!

The Selector Plate really has nothing to do with it.
The Safety Lever Arm is worn out.

Truthfully speaking, if you pull the trigger hard enough when the gun is in safe mode, even a brand new gun of any brand will develop this issue. The good news is, you do not have to worry about the gun actually firing. The fix is simply to replace the Safety Lever Arm with a brand new one.

Thanks for the reply.  Would that be part 53 in this diagram?

That happened to my old m4. It was a cheap m4 and eventually just took a dump and it now is my project gun.

If you don't want to open the GB, fix the problem with trigger discipline.
