Any recommendations for FRS/GMRS two way radio?  We just came back from Lion Claws and our radios (Motorola/Midland) did not perform too well in mountain terrain.

Did you use the high power channels?

No, none of us bought the FCC license to operate GMRS. However, that might be our route if there are no better options in the FRS frequency.

we just went to Op: Pine Plains 2, at Ft. Drum, NY. the only thing that penetrated all those concrete buildings was vhf.
just make sure that you pick a channel unused in your area, and not reserved for shipwrecks, wars, etc. i learned a few months ago that the coast guard doesnt like you talking about shooting people in the face on their frequencies. there's plenty of open commercial channels, though.

walmart has marine vhf radios for around $50

I use an old Motorola GP2000 most of my teamates got the icom ic-v85 think it can throw 7. :lol:
