Simple question. On the feed lip. There is a little 'foot' looking part that acts like a spacer. From stock photos of feed lips for sale, it seems this is not included with the purchase of said feed lip.

So is it actually necessary? I assume it has a purpose since it wouldn't be on there if it didnt.

I have a mag that is missing this, and i realize ordering a new feedlip will not include this part. (or is it included?)

Its part number 230-1 in the diagram.

You have a better chance of getting your answer if you call KWA directly. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you get a replacement and explain its purpose.

It's intent is to supply even pressure throughout the upper piece. Is it NEEDED? Not really as long as you can screw it down it'll still function.

Is it metal? My understanding is that the upper "shell' with the feed lips is plastic. I would assume that #230-1 is meant to prevent the screws from breaking through the plastic under stress.

All my LM4 STANAG magazines have this plate although it does not show in the "old manual" that came with my gun a year ago.  This part may be a product enhancement and not present on older magazines.  Or it may be a diagram mis-print.  It is indeed a retaining plate.

MM23_LM4PTR_V01 R2012.01.24 -- Older manual diagram shows no part 230-1.
MM28_LM4 SERIES_V03 R2012.10.25 -- Newer manual shows it.

Any other editions of the LM4 manual out there?  I suspect those from 2011 or earlier may not show the plate either.  But as noted all my magazines have this plate including the one that came with the gun.  I've had at least one of these magazines apart to fix the release valve leak and never noticed the plate was a separate part.
