First off, I would just like to say what a great forum. It seems to me, that there is a great community of people here. Anyways, I just recently purchased a KWA LM4C after a not so good experience with King Arms :/   I decided from what I've read and researched so far that the KWA will be worth putting some money into as far as modifications. The first thing I wanted to do was replace the factory aluminum barrel with steel. I purchased this barrel here  http://shop.ehobbyas...h-14mm-ccw.html and now that I think about it, I am not sure that I can use a standard carbine handguard/rail system due to an only 9 inch length. Maybe I'm just not thinking hard enough about it, but any insight would be appreciated. I'm hoping I will be able to use a standard carbine with this barrel.

The oem front sight/gas block goes to about 9.5", so your 9" will probably be short.

So, does that mean that a standard carbine length handguard will not fit, or just that I'll need to get a barrel extension to attach a flash hider? Basically, will I still be able to install the front handguard cap and front sight post, or am I screwed in that aspect?

Most if not all of the threading will be covered by the front sight, so you may need an extension to reinstall the flash hider.

This looks like the stock LM4 outer barrel without the extension to bring it to 14.5 inches. You should be able to attach the front sight/gas block, hand guard end cap and gas tube configuration to run the standard carbine length handguard. Only problem that I see is the flash hider will sit a lot closer to the front sight/gas block, which will make it impossible if you decide run a quick detach type suppressor.

It does look like a standard barrel to me as well, but what concerned me is that upon further research I found some nine inch barrels that have no grooves or cut outs for the front sight. I emailed ehobby to cancel the order last night, but decided today to email them again to have them go ahead and send it. It's sixty bucks, screw it. I'll get it and see what I can do with it.

None of my threads were covered by the OEM front sight. I was able to attach the OEM flash hider and I could have attached my KX3 if I had wanted to. The only reason I used an extension was for aesthetics. That barrel looks exactly like the OEM barrel base. I think the only difference is that it is steel.

Worst case scenario is I'll just have an extra barrel for a different set up. I wont know until it gets here. Lookin around on ehobby, it seems the use the same image for some of the products they carry that I would think would look different.

Yeah actually thinking of where the OEM block goes up to youd probably be fine. I was thinking about the HK416 block for some reason which goes over the thread if in the right location for the rail.

Well I get my lm4 today. it'll be waiting for me at home when I get out of work. I received a reply from ehobby, and they're going to go ahead and send out the barrel. Even if the flash hider sits against the front sight post, I wont mind. I've seen steel outer barrel extension kits that come with a few options for changing the length. Haha, I have this crazy pet peeve about aluminum barrels. Can't stand how light weight they are.

Well, I have my LM4C now....... holy sh*t holy sh*t holy sh*t.... Comparing this to my King Arms M4 gbb is really no comparison.  I had no idea what I've been missing out on. I have tried so hard to get an airsoft M4, be it aeg or gbb to feel like my Colt 6920. This is as close as anything has ever felt. Already installed my A&K KAC replica RIS, steel black flash hider, removed the CQB rear sight for the full carry handle/ sight assembly that came with my Colt( I like the full carry handle look), and now I will be patiently waiting for the Guarder steel barrel I ordered.

Maybe if you wait someone will make a proper 10.5" barrel.

I could only hope. The front end of the kwa has some decent wait compared to my king arms, but I would still prefer a steel outer barrel.
