I bought a supposed KWA G36, but the gearbox doesnt look right to me. I dont have any dealings with a G36 gearbox, as I have a collection of KWA M4s. The gun is supposed to be "bone stock", but it doesnt have a KWA motor either. Any clarity would be greatly appreciated!Attached File  20130303_122656_resized_1.jpg   162.54K   70 downloadsAttached File  20130303_122719_resized_1.jpg   137.34K   67 downloads

Fishy is an understatement.  It is NOT a KWA. The nylon barrings are another giveaway.  That and the silver gearbox, KWAs are black.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Were the 1st Gen gearboxes silver?  The markings on the gun say "KWA G36C", is it possible to put another brand of gearbox in it? I know the M4s dont like other gearboxes.

I believe that the early G36C's had silver gearboxes.  It's the motor and nylon bushings that have me saying it's not a KWA gearbox though.  It could very well be that the older KWAs would accept an aftermarket gearbox and the outside of the gun is legit. Do you have a picture of the KWA trades?

Ok, let me dig deeper, I found old pics of a silver gearbox but none that showed the bearings.

Okay, that would be great! My research turned up possibly 8mm bearings in the Gen 1 gearboxes? Still not the nylon in the pics. Thanks

Agreed.  Here is the only picture I can find of an old KG36C.  See here in this thread: http://kwausa.com/fo...relentless&st=0

The wiring appears different but that could be the picture.  The cylinder is different and there is no KWA tamper resistant tag, but that could have fallen off.

Unless KWA had this simple design in the very early models, I stand by my opinion that this is not a KWA.  Because this is going back to design questions before I was a Mod,  I have asked an internal expert for his opinion.  Stay tuned.

Agreed, I found old pics online of the silver gen1 gearbox with ball bearings.   Never, ever, heard of nylon bushings in a KWA.

Agreed, furthermore with Allizard stating what was upgraded (bushings to bearings conversion omitted), it leads me to believe it could be Tokyo Marui GB; I believe the first gen KWA's were TM compatible. Another way to determine the mfg would be a FPS test. If the FPS comes in @ 300-320, it's a TM, if it comes in 340+, it's a TM clone, probably Classic Army.

Looks like a match, for a JG to shoot that low, there has been ALOT of spring settling or a spring swap. In any event, obviously not a stock KWA G36.

Now I know why I love my KWAs! This gearbox is weak.

I am not familiar with that particular gearbox.. but it seems old. Unfortunately, now we are venturing into taboo talk on these boards. Maybe, other posters familiar with that gearbox will be kind enough to PM you. :)

Yeah, understood. Maybe I can get my hands on a KWA 2GX gearbox for it. Just from looking around, that may be easier said than done!

Heard back from an expert and, as we thought, this is not an old KWA gearbox.
