I just picked up a M226, ns2 model w/ large trade marks.

However I picked up a brand new mag for it and it sticks in the mag well when I press the mag release button.

a sharp shake and it comes out w/o issues but it doesn't just fall out when pressed.

Any ideas what could cause this or how to resolve it?

I had this on one of my guns. I took a really fine sandpaper and and went the inside of the magwell a few times. I also cleaned both the mag and the magwell. It hasn't stuck since.

Thats what I figure it is, since the 1 included mag slides out fairly nicely.

Its because the new one hasnt been worn to fit properly, like said you could sand it or if you give it time it will wear itself out. Some mags for my M4 have to be sanded down because my magwell is a bit small.

okay, we'll I'll keep using it the way it is and see how it fairs over the next few months of use.

Do you know if magpul pistol pulls can fit on an m226 mag somehow?

Modify the least expensive or most easily replaced part.  :)  That's the magazine, not the pistol.

These magazines are heavy enough that they should drop free and you can alter them so they do, but like Mockingshot I suspect these will drop better as you use them more.  Wiping them with a silicone cloth will make them slide easier but wear in less.
