Well let's be honest, bolt dimensions aren't really a big deal in the long run. The real tragedy in this story is that you're stuck with that rail for the rest of your life.......

Yes, needs to be killed with fire. The shorty version looked great when the first pics came out, this thing is hideous and I will run from it. What a tragedy. Also, whatever that flag is, I don't live there.

The MA GBBRs are in production now. I'm personally working on the manual (actually rushing to finish it to get it ready for the printers). Once the guns are complete and processed through QC both in Taiwan and on the distributor side they'll start working their way to dealers. So they "should" be out before the end of the year given the current timeline.

The delays were due to product changes to update the design to the newest MA specs as of this year. Plus the ERGs took up a lot of production capacity as well as the plethora of other products Yih Kai produces over the course of the year as OEM for various companies. The changes to the MA GBBR are well worth it though. Aesthetically the gun looks different than what we showed at Shot Show. But definitely for the better. Pics will be shown soon I'm sure.

Any shorty versions planned, sir? Or maybe one with less rail and more barrel? Or how about the LWRC line? Good luck to you either way.

The rail can't be removed?...

If so, that version does not look nearly as good as the one on the first page... sad turn of events.

Given that they didn't let us buy Magpul lowers from the pro shop, I wouldn't be surprised if we couldn't buy uppers or lowers for the Mega Arms if they are licensed as well.

I actually kind of like it. The configuration could use a little tweaking (better sights, some accessories, Magpul lower, etc...) I just hope that it's compatible with all the existing USA LM4.

It is a pseudo-monolithic upper. Here's some detailed pics of the RS: http://blogs.militar...-arms-5-56-mkm/

It is most likely that uppers and rail will not be sold separately. Last I heard from PTS, they said unlikely but they were considering it. What I've been trying to get answer to is if people who buy the gun will have access to the parts. That way they could have multiple upper setups or what ever.

I don't mind that rail, it's just that the most customisation you're going to have in that area is different lengths of the MKM rail.

The design is actually much stronger and rigid by bolting the rail onto the upper receiver instead of the barrel nut. But one main attractions of the AR platform, its customisability, is reduced considerably by the introduction of the proprietary rail mounting design.

I do agree with Nitemare, I do like the original MA design better. However I also see that since PTS obtained the Mega Arms licence, they might as well go all out and make something that differs very much from current market offerings.

Hopefully different lengths of rail will be available. The RS come in 7", 9", 12" and 14", so maybe we will get lucky and PTS will make them all :innocent:

I heard the reason they changed the design was to match MA's current offerings. MA considers the original configuration to be "legacy", if you will.

The PTS Mega Arms gun was originally planned to have a monolithic upper, however a little over year ago, LMT's monolithic patent was finally awarded (Colt has a similar patent that is still pending). At that point, Mega Arms ceased production of their RS monolithic uppers and PTS changed the replica's design to also become compliant and went with the Rainier Arms Evo rail. That was what was unveiled at Shot Show. Fast forward a few months, Mega Arms unveiled their new design to rave reviews in the RS community and we all agreed that the PTS gun should reflect that.

This new configuration is the most current configuration conceived by Mega Arms. It essentially "mimics" a monolithic-type upper (while still technically having a separate upper and rail) without having any legal concerns with LMT's recently awarded patent for monolithic upper receivers. That patent arguably could be voided one day if Colt's own monolithic patent is successful but that's irrelevant right now. We're excited about this new design. It's sleek, elegant, and rock solid.

This thread is a year old and no release of the gun!  :)

My good ole LM4-PTR just keeps soldiering on (when the weather is warm).

Doesn't look too bad in those pictures... guess it just depends on what you do to spruce it up.

I would like a list of all the modifications they've done though. If I remember right, they made the change most users were making with the bolt release for realism? The one piece upper is a nice sight. But I wonder how the longer barrel is going to impact FPS... also still wondering about the price.

The bolt catch has been updated so that you can release it using just the charging handle. That said, from what I recall, all LM4 type guns including KWA's now ship with the new bolt catch.

Velocity *shouldn't* be any different than a regular carbine LM4 since the MKM has a 14.5" outer barrel also.

Can't comment on other features or price yet.

I forgot how expensive they were. That upper looks beautiful though, I hope KWA will be selling them separately.

I would have to agree. I'm sure there are lots of people who will enjoy it a lot, however to me the only special thing about it is the 'monolithic' upper. This is a little disappointing, since I know I'm not the only one who was really hoping for a one piece upper to be available to PTS and PTR owners... Those 5+ piece uppers are just so fragile.
