Hey all,
So I've been out of the game for quite some time. I enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve and I've been away for my active duty training (boot camp and infantry school), so I'm a little rusty. I recently made the big bold move to gbb's, and decided the KWA LM4 looked like a safe bet. I'm impressed with it, and the recoil, though not quite what I'm used to, is a nice addition. I want to make this rifle as real to the one I use in the Marine Corps, and ordered an A&K M4 RIS unit for it, however it does not fit properly. What rail systems would be suitable. Please bear in mind I do not want a free float, or anything fancy. Our rail systems that we use are quite conservative.

Thanks!

My pleasure! I love my job. I must say I am very impressed with the LM4. I was one of the first to purchase the orginal KWA M4's when they were first released, and since that time I've been a loyal KWA customer. The LM4 certainly has not let me down. Fantastic product, and even better customer service. A+ KWA.

So why doesn't your A&K rail fit?

It won't seat in the delta ring grooves. It is advertised as being real steel compatible, which is what I thought KWA used?

I know that one of the custom Airsoft GI LM4s uses the A&K. Maybe you accidently got one that's made for Maruis maybe? I don't know. I know that UTG Quad Rail fits (link below). It's not quite the same style as the Knights Armament rail the Corps uses, but its close. It's not free-float, is cheap, and fits.
By the way, thanks for you service.

Again, my pleasure. I love my job. Anyhow, thanks for the help. Maybe you're correct and I got screwed with the rail system. I know ASGI occasionally supplements things when it isn't in stock and someone overlooked that I needed a real steel compatible RIS. I wish the thing wasn't in OD, but beggars can't be choosers.

Kill!

All Madbull rails are compatible. The threads on the receiver are not compatible with real steel. It's the delta ring that's compatible with two piece handguards. Semper Fi, Marine.

Yut yut!

I'm almost thinking of getting this... Not quite what I was originally going for, but I'm feeling bold.

Only crappy thing about Madbull rails is that they're usually off spec and some accessories won't fit right.

I have that rail on both my LM4's (12" and 10" I believe), and it works well. There is a slight issue securing the rail to the base with the 6 fasteners in that the rail is pulled down 1-2 mm.  It doesn't center perfect.  My gun smithing buddy found if you shave down a very small area at the top of the rail where it mates with the base, it will fit perfect.  A very minor mod.  Great rail.

The UTG 4/15 fits nicely on the LM4.  Non free-float and held together by some screws.  Quite rugged.  I got mine on line as a "return" from an Amazon store for about $30.  With the rail the LM4 mimics my LWRC M6A1 nicely albeit with a shorter handguard, the LWRC uses a "mid-length" gas system.

Reproduction Aimpoint CompM4 on the LM4; Aimpoint CompM4s on the LWRC.

@Chuck

What kind of mount is that for you Comp M4S? And is it absolute co-witness?

(sorry for the off topic question)

Shows a little better on this side:  It's the standard rail mount (included with the CompM4S) with the cantilever spacer (Aimpoint part No. 12193) in lieu of the M4 Spacer (12192) that's included with the sight and which is used on the LM4-mounted clone CompM4 (no S-model available I know of).  The S-model gets the switch wheel out of the way.

The cantilever mount is not needed on the M6A1 as the rail is solidly attached the upper receiver.  The sight was mounted on this rifle for the photo.  An EoTech 553 is there normally.  At least until I can get another M4s, I'm not an EoTech fan.

The CompM4 cantilever mount is setup for and usually resides on my LWRC M6A1-SL carbine.  Goal is to position the sight as far forward as convenient with it mounted on the receiver as there is no forward rail.

Yeah, the stock color doesn't match. ;)   Was marked as FDE and sold at discount.

I noticed in the top photo if you follow the "brick lines" you can see the CompM4s on the LWRC M1A1 is perfectly co-witnessed with the iron sights.  Harder to see on the LM4 but it is.

Hey ladies and gents, so I know I'm reviving an old post, but since the time of posting this I've actually sold my old LM4, and brought another one. My frustration with rail systems however, has come back to haunt me. I purchased another LM4, and the UTG quad rail. I can not get it to fit for the life of me. I had issues getting the stock hand guards off, so I purchased a handguard removal tool. My issued rifle isn't even as stiff! haha. Anyhow, I got those off, and now the UTG rail will not seat properly in the barrel nut. I've skimmed through the 3rd party compatibility list again, but to no avail. Are there any rail systems that will drop right in? Bear in mind I've tried the A&K RIS system on my previous LM4 and had the same issue.I see that at one point ASGI was offering a 'custom' lm4 featuring the A&K RIS, but how they got it on there I do not know. The last thing I want to do is spend more cash for a rail system that will not fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
