I was actually just curious if you were able to anodize the KWA receiver. I've been toying with idea but I wasn't sure if the paint could be stripped without messing up the receiver.

The paint on the KWA receiver is quite thick, and its thickness is actually built into the dimensional tolerances of the receivers. Simply stripping the paint loosens the fit between the upper and the lower receivers, the hammer/trigger pin hole, fire control group geometry, magwell size etc. Couple that with the sand blasting required prior to anodising (the paint masks and fills many of the casting imperfections on the receiver body surfaces), and you end up having a pretty loose fitting rifle.

A lot of work was put into shimming the looseness out of my LM4, and there was report of significant drop in muzzle velocity from the looser seal between the magazine and the jet nozzle after anodising. something to think about for sure...

The receiver material is good enough to be type II anodised, and it did turn out great. However I doubt it would stand up to be type III hard coat anodised... although I am curious if someone would give it a shot!

That's a little dissappointing. Sounds like Cerakote may be a better option for refinishing the receivers.

Cerakote would have been my first choice for surface finish. Unfortunately we could not import the chemical into Taiwan without  sending samples to the government laboratories for testing and approval. Let us know if you do decide to get your receivers Cerakoted how it turns out!

That sucks man. I'm going to let the receiver finish wear down a little more before I consider Cerakoting it. At this point it's just not worth the time or money.

Nice!  I picked one up myself and I like it a lot so far. I have a ra tech barrel coming soon and hoping there will be a solution soon for taking off the outer barrel I'm order to switch it out.

Nice! Thanks for sharing!! I manage to unscrew the barrel nut myself too, made a tool very similar to what you've created.

So I take it the two bolt are interchangeable? And what are your thoughts on the MKM as a whole?

The bcg is compatible between both guns. I really like the mkm. The one piece upper is amazing. Everyone complaining they can't change the rail..oh well..I don't care. Making something this beautiful, I would have paid more money for full steel internals, cause that trigger would be nice to have steel. I would have paid more if it had real anodizing on the reciever. And I would have paid more for a real billet reciever. But paying more for the licensing and without much improvement from the lm4 models, it leaves me wanting more. Other then that, I've got a RAT tbb, evo2 hop up, and bolt catch nodded to raise higher. Also did the oring mod that Netpoc came up with to the hop up to prevent bb jams ( which is something that could have been done by the manufacturer). Its shooting just as well as my LM4's. Overall im happy. The one piece upper is the biggest improvement.

Haha, very nice knitting! Sure does add some personality to the almost clone-like KeyMod hand guard design coming from all the big firearm companies.

Not having to worry about your optics tearing off the upper after a bump is a huge relief on the field. The one piece lower is great too, much more sturdy then screwing the pistol grip into a part that's not part of the lower receiver.

Don't know if you've noticed, but the lower receiver on the MKM is now the proper AR15 thickness, as opposed to the thicker walls of the LM4, particularly noticeable at the seam between the pistol grip and the lower receiver.

thanks! Yes I did notice the lower reciever and how slim It was when I tried to install a ser of the crusader badass selector lever. It was too long and wouldn't work. And I do like that my real grip juat slid onto the reciever very easily.

Love my mega arms the look and style is awesome, asking as u can get past the same old finish. The rifle seems to be limited on customization tho with it's proprietary styling such as the upper and rail. Most Lm4 parts have fit this far such as the hopup and barrel. Real steel grips also fit and mil spec stocks. I'm hoping in the future they come out with a CQB version
