Hey there, so after using my blaster for about 4 or so months, I've come into a problem. I was playing indoor cqb with an 11.1 15c lipo, when in the middle of a full auto Burst, my gearbox made a noise and the rate of fire dropped. I immediately stopped firing and left the game. After closer inspection (the gun still assembled), I noticed the noise sounded like a shot being fired, execpt an extra half shot after it pops. It's quite difficult to explain. Imagine shooting your gun on semi, and then having the gears turn an extra half shot (assuming its the gears). I'm not really sure what it is. I haven't opened it thinking it would destroy any chance of getting any help, but the warrantys up and I need my precious to work again. So any help would be greatly appreciated and if there's any further info you need please ask. Thanks again!

Hard to diagnose by the description.
I can throw out some possibilities.

Questions:
- Does your gun function and actually shoot normal as far as distance and accuracy?
- Do you have the tech skills and experience to fix your own gun?

Troubleshoot:
- Battery:
Try your gun with a fully charged 9.6v for ROF and gun function comparisons.
Then Fully charge your Li-po and shoot a few shots to see what happens.

-Motor:
If the ROF immediately dropped off, your motor could have died on you.
Try a different motor with the same battery.

- Piston:
Your piston could have damaged and gotten off track of the piston rails, thus slowing down the ROF and damaging the Piston and possibly other gun parts in the process.

I could go on and on, but check the batteries and then motor.
If that does not solve it, your gearbox will have to be opened up.

Hi Evan - Welcome to the KWA Forums.  Does the "extra half shot" sound like the gears are turning but there is no follow-up shot as a result?  Does it almost sound like the gearbox is unwinding or still moving?  If this is the case then my guess is there is an issue with either a broken anti-reverse latch (ARL) or you threw a tooth of the bottom of the bevel gear.  This would cause the gears to go in the reverse direction once the trigger is no longer engaged.  Keep in mind, if you have broken parts bouncing around in the gearbox you have a significant risk of breaking more parts.  You need to get this to a tech if what I have described is happening.  If you do not have one locally that you trust, you can send the gun to KWA to be repaired.

Please let us know if what I described is what your gun is doing.

Gcw360, you nailed it. It's pretty much exactly like that. No follow up shot but it sounds like its still moving. My next question would be, assuming that it is indeed one of those two parts, should I stick with the replacement kwa ARL?
Also, just out of curiousty, how would an anti-reversal latch fail? If that's happened, couldn't that have the potential to destroy the rest of my gearbox? I imagine everything going backwards and parts being striped, Especially straining the gears. Unfortunately my knowledge doesn't go too deep. I've tinkered around in v2 gearboxes, so I could stick in a new ARL pretty easy. My worry was breaking the magic seal, lol.

The extra damage ususally occures when a broken gear tooth gets in the other gears' way as the gun cycles.  That said, it doesn't always result in additional damage and only further inspection will answer that question.  If you had other than a KWA gearbox the same symptoms can occur when the gearbox shell breaks where the ARL is held resulting in the same noise and gears traveling in both directions.  I have only seen a handful of KWAs fail with either an ARL breaking or bevel gear dropping a tooth.  For that reason I feel confident recommending replacing the parts with OEM KWA parts.

All of us have learned a great deal from gcw360 and all the other mods on this Forum. They know their stuff! Stick around, you will be a better tech for it.
