I have been looking online for a PTP M226 and everyone is out of stock. Where are they all at?
Are they on back order?

Be patient, they will come and will be improved as all KWA's do as they evolve.

My local shop, Bing Shop in Edwardsville, has one but it is the demo model and it is a little marred up. They want $189.99 for it too. You have to also figure how many times the slide has been pulled back and the trigger has been pulled. Hundreds I am sure!

So you say wait it out?

Personally I don't buy used....Store guns that are for demo and very used!  Hold out.

M226 is a VERY limited release and it's not on current production schedule.  It will be awhile before we have some more available.

I'm also waiting for better news on the 226 PTP over here in Asia. It would be a great partner for my LM4 :)

FYI, don't know about the Asian market but I just saw a few of the redesigned 226's at my local shop...they came in last week.  The trigger is much nicer than the older one.  If you have fired the older 226 it always seemed to me that the trigger was a bit soft...almost "floppy" when the hammer dropped.  The new one has eliminated this issue.

Now I need to field test one.

I picked one up last night at DogTag Airsoft in San Jose, CA.

It's my first airsoft gun, so I don't have much to compare it to, aside from real firearms.

It seems VERY solid. The action is smooth and crisp. Trigger pull dosen't seem "floppy" at all. The gun cycles well and the blowback/recoil is noticeable without being overbearing. It's pretty easy to stay on target. It feels great in the hand and points naturally. With the weight of the gun I might need to rethink my thigh holster, as that is fine for the range but I can forsee this bugger banging around and shifting while running around an airsoft field.

If not for the orage tip and the easier ability to rack the slide, I'd think it was a real firearm.

Time will tell how well it does in the field and how well it holds up to day to day use, but so far I am totally happy with my purchase.

Edit: Oh, and it has blacked out markings, so I am assuming it's a new model.

www.AirsoftOutletNW.com has the new version M226 in stock as well, if you're still having trouble finding them.

How do you distinguish the old model from the new model?  All the descriptions seem the same to me and the KWA website does not seem to call out old versus new.

You can ask the retailer by email, phone call, (etc) when they received the model, and if it is the updated version.

Apparently giving it a more distinguishable name like Gen 3, Mk 3, Ver. 3 was to hard. LOL!  Ok, I will try as you recommend but I have zero faith in those that work customer service actually having a clue about the products they sell.

Subdued trades are a giveaway that the gun is the updated version.

So far I am extremely happy with it. :D

Thanks to the gang at http://dogtagairsoft.com/ in San Jose for stearing me in the right direction.
