Does it serve any purpose in the LM4 GBB or is it just to closely mimic a RS M4?

Thanks.

It's purely cosmetic.

It really completes the look IMO unless you have some sort of integrated suppressor setup.

After some reading it looks like i will have to either cut and Tap the first part of the outer barrel or (if this option is even available) purchase a shorter outer barrel.

anybody know if there are any shorter outer barrels out there that are compatable with KWA's GBB M4?

I don't unfortunately, but you could always do what I did and pick up a plastic hollow mock suppressor, glue a standard birdcage to the end of it, and put the suppressor over the barrel. Makes my 16" barrel look like a 10 inch integrated suppressor. You could also make one with pvc from home depot or scrap metal. I would think that is easier than cutting the outer barrel, unless you have the machines for it unlike me lol

The 14.5" outer barrel is actually threaded just in front of the gas block with an extension. With some heat and a lot of torque it is possible to separate them. You could also purchase the rear portion or a LM4C outer barrel directly from KWA.

Here are the two parts diagrams to give you an idea of what you are dealing with:

Do you know about how long the rear portion of the outer barrel is?

Thanks

I believe it's the same length as the LM4C barrel.

The length of the rear portion of the standard LM4 is about an inch or so shorter, so it's kind of a 9-9.5" barrel.
