Hi KWA

I recently did some in-depth familiarization with my KWA LM4 Magpul edition, meaning I took it apart completely and put it all back together again.

I was a little disappointed to find that the hopup on my gun was using a ball bearing as a spacer and not that brass doohickey that I see in the pictures. The reason being is that the ball bearing as a hop spacer has been used before and it never was a very reliable or accurate spacer for hop ups.

Sure enough, my LM4 isn't shooting as accurately as I'd like.

This was my reaction after taking the gun's hop apart... up until 22 seconds.

disclaimer: I really didn't pee my pants. honest.

Is yours a USA version LM4?

Open you're receiver and pull out the bolt and charging handle, does it say "USA" on the upper rail? (Inside).

It sound like you have the non-US model of the KWA LM4, which I've seen available at some retailers. This model is not the same as the US Spec models.

Also an FYI, a company has already made a conversion kit for the non-US models of the LM4.

I see, I don't have the US version of the gun since I am in Asia and ordered it from Hong Kong. What are the differences aside from the ball-bearing hopup?

I ordered the complete hopup + tight barrel kit from RA Tech (including the new blue hop rubber) and it should arrive soon. I'll get some accuracy tests and tweaks going once installed. Hopefully with the gas efficiency and accuracy all worked out, I can convert my gun from this:

to something like this:

Akira, I've been watching a lot of videos made by you and Boobie and I've learned quite a bit on the dismantling and maintenance of both my LM4 and MP7.

Thank you!

No need to crack the receivers to see (or not see) the USA marking.

Just look thru the magazine well (from the bottom! :) ) after locking the bolt and charging handle to the rear.

I believe some of the parts in the US version are "slightly" different in size in order to get ATF approval.

Neither part will fit on the corresponding M16 receiver.

Don't know if the Asia version is different but the USA version is close, but won't fit.
