The BCG was Parkerized then the logo laser etched on, just as the real thing would have been.

The park looks great on that bolt Jeff! Does it have the same dimensional mismatch problems as anodizing the body?

Looks great. Did you drill out the ports on the side of the BCG? I didn't know the lm4 could function like that. And I didn't know the LM4 BCG would accept parkerizing. Are the KWA lm4's steel?

A light sand blasting removes the original surface treatment before parkerizing. However unlike the receiver anodising, the little material removed is insignificant compared to the gap already present between the BCG and the upper receiver.

The dimensional alteration and therefore looseness caused by the removal of the original coat of paint on the receivers have been resolved. I will follow up on this topic in my MKM thread.

Yes, the original fake ports on the BCG was indeed drilled out and chamfered before Parkerizing. The gas supply from the magazine is cut off before the jet muzzle O-Ring passes the two ports, therefore you do not use more gas. Also as the gas now vents out to the side instead of into the receiver body, you no longer get a blast of green gas to your face if you overfill your magazine, not to mention the sexy good looks!

This is the PTS MKM BCG. Both the LM4 and the MKM have factory stock steel BCGs (magnet tested). However the MKM BCG has a slight reddish tint to it...

That's awesome Jeff! And the bolt still works as efficiently as before with the ports drilled out? No loss of velocity or anything?

If there were any difference in bolt cycle speed, it was unnoticeable. It will still empty a full magazine on full auto. There seems to be no perceivable drawback in porting the BCG the way I have done it.

You'd need to be diligent in deburring the inside of the BCG after drilling the ports, or you risk damaging the O-ring, which in turn could cause a malfunction.

That's amazing Jeff! For the first 30 seconds I was convinced someone had posted a picture of a real AR, then I saw the top rail pin lol.

Great work man!

I've been debating between the PA and Sparc myself. Gcw, what makes you say the Sparc is better? I have trying to figure out what justifies the $120 price difference.

Basically only fact that I would use it on a real firearm.  I like the adjustable height and the 2X converter that is included is a nice addition.  To be honest though, if you are only using it for airsoft and unless you have the money to burn, go with the less expensive option.

We should get back on topic now.

Thanks, good to know. If you don't mind me asking, how much is the discount? I've been trying to decide between a PA red dot or getting the SPARC II.
