Just to give you a bit of comparison with the old gearbox vs. new one.

What you see here is NOT final version.  However, I can tell you the pre-production sample performs in very low temperatures much much better than previous version.

We will be selling the stand alone gearbox only AFTER full line production is been released.

What is the difference between a 1.5v mechbox and 2. mechbox?  I'm wondering my new KWA m4 came with a 1.5v instead of version 2.

  Hehehe, I'm just trying to think how strong this brick will be! If the old KWA gearbox could handle a M170 spring (remember that dude that shoots like, 600 fps at like what? 29 bps? with .25s) And thats with stock gears... I'm thinking the new one can handle a M130 or a M140 like it's just a M110 spring! Would I even even need to change the cylinder on that thing to a Modify Type 0? 34 days until June...

On the second picture of the gearbox, in the cylinder in the hole( Not a tech guy), is that a crack or hole in the piston?

Original - introduced fall 2007
Revision 1.5 - updated fat trigger post summer 2008
Revision 1.75 - updated curved trigger post winter 2008
Revision 2GX - New material, new design, summer 2009

Most gearbox in the market now circulate around revision 1.5 and 1.75.

That's not a hole.  Just dirt. Besides, it's pre-production sample.

I noticed a difference in the cylinder hole location. Why is that, and of what benefit is it?

Hm, I got a question. If I were to order a KWA M16BR from Airsoft GI during June, would it come with the new internals, or would it come with the old? Is buying the new series of KWA guns the only surefire way to make sure I have the new gearbox?

Moving the hole back allows more volume of air then normal Type 1 cylinder, but not quite the same as Type 0.  This is to keep the gun as close to 400 fps.

Im guessing this is in response to the settled fps of the kwa m4  being about 380

Tentatively, the 2009 version of KM16BR, KM4A1, KM4CQB, and KM4S will not be available until Sept.  The upcoming June release are for the SR-5, SR-10, SR-12 and KM4 RIS rifles.

In that case, it's the SR12 for me ^_^!!!! 2 days until you announce the price..then 31 days until it hits the markets... hehehe. You know, I had a problem earlier. I'm part of the my school's NjROTC's shooting program and we qualifed for the Junior Olympics, and the NRA Open Championships in Ohio in July, costs like, $900 to go. I was debating on going to Ohio to shoot, or to buy the KWA.. I think you guys know which won out!

Dam i like it, it looks like it has more ball bearings in the bushings(old GB vs new GB). Also theres this big extra chunk of metal in the front, is that for reinforcement? My old gearbox actually cracked right around there.
