Let me touch on the subject of cylinders.  Here's a picture of my CQR Mod1.  You can see the cylinder that came in and is still in the GB.  The next cylinder is the one we took out of my son's CQR late last year.  The top cylinder is the one from the Pro Shop I have to put into mine.Attachment IMG_0183.JPG

Can I be sure I have the correct GB? Mine any my son's have been built about a year apart.  Mine is less than a month old.
Your newer CQR has a KWA type 1 cylinder.  Apparently the factory has made a change to the cylinder.  This is most likely due to the fact that the cylinder in you son's gun produced lower FPS than what customers wanted.

Personally, I prefer the type 1 over the older CQR cylinder.

Can you tell us what FPS you are getting vs what your son was getting?

Thank you for sharing.

Last week I was getting average 260 but that was when my hopup was binding (see above).  He was getting 300 prior to the conversion

Sorry guys a little off topic but, what fps should I expect with the sr-10/12 cylinder? I've got a cqr mod 1, a little over a year old , I also have a jg spring in it(m120 maybe?).

I'm not sure what a "GB" might be, but the cylinder that shows in the gun photo a few messages back is the same cylinder in my 20 month old KM4-CQB with a 10" barrel.

The bucking was oil soaked and required over-night soaking and cleaning before the gun shot well.

I think by GB he means Gearbox.

What is he getting now since the conversion?  In the past when I did a cylinder swap the in a CQR the FPS jumped to the 380 FPS range depending on cylinder and barrel length.  This was because the CQR came with a KWA M120 spring to offset the huge forward port in the cylinder.   Given the numbers you are posting with your gun, my guess is that your CQR with the type 1 has a KWA M100 spring while your son may or may not have the M120 spring depending on the FPS he is getting now.

My son got 350 last week with .25's.   He got his just before Fulda Gap 2012. And was told he had the 120.

So you think I may have to do a cylinder and a spring swap for field use?  Do I have the high torque gear set?

Your son indeed has the KWA m120 given the FPS.  With .2's he is in the 385 range.  Yours must have a KWA m100.  Regarding the gears, all KWA AEGs use the same high torque gears so you should be fine.  You could even stick with the Type one and simply change the spring.  That said, the 0.5 would be fine too with a heavier spring.

Gcw360. Both of the fields I play at have a limit of 400 measured with .25's. If I change to the .5 cylinder which I already have from the proshop would a 130 keep me under that limit with out introducing other issues or should I stick to the 120. At this point the GB is open regardless. Might as well do the optimum.

I would stick with the M120.  I have a settled KWA M130 in my KM4A1 with a 0.5 cylinder and shoot over 450FPS with KWA .2 BB's.  In fact, a new KWA M130 and a 0.5 cylinder may pit you over 460 with .2s.  That means, as I am sure you are aware, with .25s you will be over 400.

Back again.  I did fix the hop-up so the nub moves freely now.  Finally got the chance to re-chrono and with 25's I was able to get about 292 so let's call it 300.  I'm feeling much better about the stock gun.

With the type 1 cylinder I thinking my CQR does not have the M120.  Agreed?
