The LM4 "MagPul edition" doesn't need PMags.  They're merely cosmetic, as well as heavier, and hold less BBs.  And more expensive!  The gun neither benefits or cares what magazine is in there.  All it wants is gas and BBs.  ;)

If you're involved in a steady team it makes sense to have interchangeable magazines -- just like the real world.  A mix of AEGs and GBBs won't provide this.  But at least the very nice KWA bulk loader will fill both types!  Real PMags will take USGI clips and, of course, interchange with USGI mags.

My 2 cents in...

I run 4 +1 ... That's four on my carrier and 1 in hand/in weapon. I use on average 1 to 2 per 15 minute round. When playing a support roll I may end the game on my last magazine.

My buddy runs an lm4 as well so we can swap mags in the event we run out or encounter a rare instance where mag has leaked down.

We play back to back rounds with 5-10 minutes in between. I think 10-12 magazines would be optimal, at least for my style of play. I'd like to be able to come in, resupply and then reload at my leisure instead of rushing to gas and load.

I agree, but that would be one hell of a heavy loud out and expensive.

Agree ... I only carry 4 on my chest at a time ... Drop bag starts getting heavy with 4 in it.

I meant keeping 5 gassed and loaded in the tent ... Come in, drop empties and head back out. We've got a huge indoor arena set up like a village. 15 minute rounds with a couple if minutes in between to reload

I run eight, though I may be doubling that shortly. I bought 7 Pmags before I realized I could import mags into Canada legally. So I'll be loading up on STANAGs shortly. :P

Haha that's the idea. :P To be honest, I barely notice 8. I'm a pretty big guy though, so that might contribute a bit. Odds are I'll eventually  buy either a GBBR Masada or LWRC, if they ever get released, and keep them for those rifles. I originally bought my LM4 to do a Marines loadout, so I'm actually trying to stay away from magpul. It just happend that at the time, the Pmags were all that were available in the great white north.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, I guess.

Wouldn't your chest rig be really front heavy? I balance my 6 mags with my hydration pack where I also carry a propane tank, water, etc.

I don't notice it, to be honest. I'm a milsim player, and even after 24 hours, I feel about as well as you can, all things considered. I guess I'm in better shape then I realize. I won't carry 16 mags though. I doubt I would have the physical space on my rig to do that. :P Ten is what I'm shooting for.

I have 3 in the front, 2 on the battle belt in HSGI Taco's, and 1 in the gun.  The other 4 are in my pack if I get pinned down.  The weight is distributed pretty well.

If I rocked 10 magazines I'd be the guy covering everyone's backs because I'd be in no shape to keep up haha

And you'd have the ammo to go to town with full auto lol

Got my 3 new pmags; 7 total. 6 on my plate carrier and 1 in the gun. With all my gear, my weight increased by 36 pounds.

I tend to carry seven magazines total--one loaded, six backup. I use slow and rapid semi-automatic fire unless my squad and I need to enage targets behind heavy cover, then I use fully automatic for suppressive fire. With 310 rounds, and being an SDM (Squad Designated Marksman), my ammunition supply will last quite long, but just in case I carry a bandolier of speedloaders--40rds each. When I play in games longer than one day I carry about 10 more in my backpack. All my magazines are loaded with 0.25g BBs with the last five rounds being tracer ammunition to let me know a mag change is coming up.

Currently I'm about 145lbs at 5'10" in fairly good shape, so 6 MP7 mags (plus water, grenades, radio etc.) has been no problem so far. I had about 4 PMags last game day and I quickly realized these would be very heavy. I think I'll go ahead and get myself a total of 6 PMags, as I am already accustomed to that capacity and play style. Most of my games are outdoors or large mil-sim type scenarios, so I found with the MP7 I had to stop a couple times at re-gen or in a secure building to load/gas mags. I do carry a MKII as a backup with 3 mags though, so I do have my ground fairly well covered. Personally I find that running out of ammo is more exciting, in the same way that playing a video game with the "unlimited ammo" hack is turned on, because what's the point? Most AEG players I see are carrying literally THOUSANDS of rounds on them, so where's the skill and excitement in that?
