Hey guys. I know the LM4 series isn't on the market yet and I know I'm probably going to get the generic "Wait and see" reply, but just a question: when KWA releases the GBB series stateside, would they also release external upgrades immediately or would it take a while?  Specifically outer barrels. I've got the cash for the Magpul LM4 PTR, but I want to throw a shorter barrel on it for CQB. I would rather get the Magpul LM4 than the LM4C just for the body and pistol grip, as I already have a UBR stock and CASV-M rail system waiting for it.

Now that I think of it, maybe KWA will release spare upper receivers for the GBB line, that way I would just switch the bolt assembly between the two uppers, one with the standard Magpul PTR upper and the other with the CASV-M CQB length. All I can do is hope haha!

Anyways, sorry if I'm rambling, just excited as hell. I've been waiting for the LM4 ever since the concept was released to the public, and I'm checking online airsoft retailers everyday since the recent 2012 product post. Can't wait to see what people will customize their rifle with! Plenty of photos from me!

I enjoy reading posts like these. I'm also prepping for all the upgrades I'm putting on to it. Sometimes you can buy AEG parts you can't find on the online proshop from KWA over the phone. They may be able to help you if you call up once the LM4 series comes to market. I expect they will be able to sell the barrels and receivers separately for special order over the phone, if they are all not proprietary. I don't see this happening until months after release though. I think the next LM4 part to come out to the public would be the low powered bolt. So, since I'm interested, and if you want, tell me all the modifications you're going to make to your LM4. :)

When the LM4C release along with the LM4 and LM4 Magpul edition, I can see the LM4C outer barrel being compatible with the LM4 magpul edition. It would not make sense for it to be designed differently.

Yeah, I agree with that. I just kept it open because we don't know if they are compatible or not until we get these awesome hunks of metal in our hands... perhaps Allizard could give us an assist?

I would really like to give a definite answer but most of us really don't know yet.  I know this is not the answer you are looking for. Sorry.
I would think that we will be hit with many aftermarket parts though once it is released but how fast some of these companies will pick this up would really depend on market demand and popularity of the new KWA GBBR line.

Yup. I don't expect the models to be different at all, besides the Magpul trades and exterior parts. I'll probably order the Magpul and keep checking and call up a bit after release to see if they have spare uppers and a CQB barrel sitting around. Also, I would think the uppers on all the LM4 would be the same, as only the Magpul edition has a different lower (as well as hand guard, stock, rear sight, and grip), not a different upper.

As for up grades... Haha! I can't wait for this part. The low power bolt might be a good idea for CQB, but my field limit is 400, so I would have to see the initial FPS of the gun. I'm throwing on the Magpul UBR stock, King Arms CASV-M hand guard, and the Madbull Gemtech G5 flashider/extension that I have right now. I'm looking for a good red dot (any suggestions? I like holo sights as well as the Aimpoint red dot on cantilever mounts) and finally, when I can get the extra CQB barrel, I'll probably sand it down to a silver/gray color. Lots and lots of pictures!

Haha I saw this and was like "Who wouldn't want a KWA GBB M4 (or AK)?" And popular? Are you kidding? Retailers are going crazy over news of this gun, especially at Shot Show (this and EVERY OTHER KWA product!).Yeah I know the rifles are expensive and GBBs generally aren't as popular as AEGs, but I can see these things selling out quick. The people at KWA had told us to start saving our pennies when they released the news that they would be making a GBB line of M4s and that's exactly what I did.

As much as I would love for more parts, the dismal selection of aftermarket parts for current KWA products is disappointing at best.
I'm not even talking about internal parts but the few external parts for KWA products are few and far between. Given how KWAs recent releases have been relatively well-received yet still lacking aftermarket parts, I won't hold my breath for the LM4 and AKG. This is in contrast to the WA platform where you can practically build a complete rifle with the parts available, not to mention TM and WA pistols. All of the clone pistols on the market are off of TM specs, too.

On a serious note...  This is something we have to improved with good supply of consumable replacement parts.

I am sorry for this being off topic, but I would have never expected a  Doctor Who reference on these boards. So now I have to ask for it, when will we get a sonic scew driver from KWA?  :o

Sorry, shouldn't have stated "upgrade". Was looking more into replacement and spare parts. The only thing I really would want to change/switch around are the outer/inner barrels depending on the type of play or wanting a different look. I'm definitely throwing on my UBR stock and CASV-M rail system though!

For the exterior mods, I would imagine that the stocks and rail systems from the real steel counterparts would be compatible. As far as the inner barrel, I guess that would be dependent on how it's cut for the hop up...?

For inner barrels, I'll just have to wait and find out if KWAs IB is proprietary... Hopefully they'll sell the LM4C barrel and spare uppers right after release.

I just hope the charging handle is made of steel, or at least compatible with aftermarket real steel ones.
