Here are some pictures of my MK2 after 65,000 + rounds. I uesd the a metal barrel from day1.

Top of the barrel through the ejection port.

Left side of the front slide tabs, has some finish wear but no metal wear.

On the left side of the outer barrel there's a little metal wear but not much.

Here is the only place on the slide. That I could find wear from the outer barrel.

Bottom of the outer barrel

The top of the outer barrel is where most of the wear is.

The shiny part is were it hits the slide not the gas system.

Thanks for the post.  At 65K rounds I think it is safe to say that the metal outer barrel is a winner.  Wouldn't you?

I have to agree with you on that gcw. Especially since I've only had it for 4 1/2 months and use propane.

Propane and metal outer barrel with no problem after 65K rounds is amazing.  Although I am still skeptical of propane use I appreciate your report.  Thanks!

I would use green gas if it wasn't $23 a can at the closest retaler. And I do clean the gas system every 25,000 rounds because I use propane.

Is it and extra large can?  Most GG around here is $12-14.

That's HIGHWAY ROBBERY!  That can should cost 12-14 bucks.  It may be that the retailer is paying crazy shipping costs but that is really high in my experience.

That's why I use propane.

I can't wait to see what the outer berral look like after 100,000 rounds. And see if the wear pattern will change when I thread it.

PS: Anyone that has shot 45,000+ rounds. With the polymer barrel post pictures. So we can see the deference in wear.
