The RIS is two piece.  You can leave the top on and installed barrel mount M203.

Good! Thanks.

Is the SR12 comparable to the KM16BR when it comes to gearbox, hop-up unit, motor, and barrel length (509mm)?

Reason I ask is because I currently own a KM16BR and was curious if I could interchange the hop-up units and barrels.

I plan on modifying the SR12 to Semi only to embark on a kick-butt DMR project, but I wasn't sure if I could use KM16BR internals as back-up parts.

Also, is the SR12 going to have the same internals as the '09 model of the KM16BR? Specifically the hop-up unit and gearbox/motor?

Thanks in advance.

P.S... I'm just wondering what to expect from the SR12. It looks like a KM16BR with a Rail platform and different sights, but you can't always judge a book by its cover, so I wanted to see if they will have the same internals.

I may be ahead of myself but i hope KWA makes gearboxes like pro-win!   that would totally outperform!

havent ever tested or researched pro-win much, what are their strong points?
if KWA could outperform and outlast on the hop up and gear box , and then work on trades and finish I think so many people would flock to to this gun.. instead of having to drop overpriced gearboxes in our aegs. against my better judgement im going to drop an m140 systema into my KWAm4 and switch to a madbull bucking(not the best i know but cant find much else here on the island) and see what happens over time. I did look at the gears and compared it to systema all helical gears and they are thicker, so im hopeful my gun will last and be able to take the pain.

If i bought a kwa km4a1 right now, what 2009 parts would be in it? and would the 2g bucking be in it also?

I can tell you what's in mine.  I purchased it Mid-March from a web retailer.  The upgraded internals include the following (all 2009 second Generation): Piston, gears, cylinder.  I added the G2 Bucking.  The gearbox is Ver 1.75.  I have confirmed all this with the guys at the KWA Pro Shop.

There are no external upgrades.

I'll defer to a KWA staff member beyond that.  And you never quite know what a dealer is going to ship you.

I am thinking about getting the SR5 or SR10. I play woodsball and never really play cqb but the short gun appeals to me but will I lose range doing this? 50 fps lower doesnt bother me I dont have to kill the person jus tag them out Lol What do you think if I get more Accuracy and Distance with SR10 I go with that I guess. But to my understanding on most all airsoft guns have the same range and accuarcy its jus the quality of them that makes a difference unless u go aftermarket. Hope these ship put soon as I am running around with a KWA M9 trying to compete against AEGS lol stupid chinasoft JG M4 broke

Theres nothing wrong with a short AEG in woodland battles.  It will be easier to increase FPS on a longer barreled AEG  cause it makes room for mistakes (air leaks / momentum issues)

Yes you are right AEGs shoot the same 6mm bbs with very slight differences in weight (aside from 8mm) so besides the fact that its not that easy to increase FPS on a short barreled AEG to lets say 600+  (400- 500 is fairly easy) differences in range will wold be almost unnoticeable.

You will also have the advantage of a shorter/versatile AEG in occasional CQB games you may have.  Just my 2 bbs worth  :D

Cool man. Thanks for your input the Sr5 looks more sexy to me. LOL I dont care about upgrading it want it to last 2 years before I have to do anything internal to it : D I am thinking about getting a NCSTAR Multi Rectile Reflex Sight and LIPO battery to go with it. What kind of LIPO should I get the 7v one or 11v one? I plan on bursting with it cause even though kwa's are lipo ready i still dont want it to wear the gears down. I heard lipos last like 10 hours and thats amazing lol using 3 to 6 sec burst shots with it and it being 350 fps prob 384 to even 400 brand new until spring wears down a lill but that should last about 2 years without messing anything up internally right?

AEG is not appliance.  Like cars, they do require regular maintenance.  Kar's gun is a good example when it's maintain properly.   It runs 180k rounds before the piston breaks.  And that's a lot of BB's.

Choosing between SR5 or SR10 really depends on your playing style and requirements.  Unlike other brands, we build our guns with different performance specs.  The SR5 was intended for close combat and has a lower FPS (below 350 FPS) but with a higher rate of fire (21+ RPS with a 11.1v).  However, with the 263mm barrel and a high ROF there will be a decrease in accuracy and effective range comparing to the SR10.  On the other hand, the SR10 is a all around gun.  It shoots harder (390 FPS) with a lower ROF (17+ RPS with a 11.1v) than the SR5.  The combination of the higher FPS + 394 mm barrel increases the effective range and improves the accuracy. :)

180,000 rounds

appx 60 bags

appx 3 cases

if he's using all .25s, that's almost 45 kilos(100LBS!) worth of bbs    never thought about it that way, but that's a helluva lot of bbs

Wait, so the newer KWA's will have a lower ROF than the current ones? My KM-4 shoots around 20 bbs a second with a 7.4v LiPo, but you say the SR-10 shoots a little over 17 a second with a 11.1.

I think it will go further if I kept the stock KWA m120. Note that I switched to sp130 after 80k rounds and used a 20c lipo hehehe.

Spiggy, yes I was/am using .25 BBs

About the ROF. Different Chronos will give diff results (FPS and ROF).

A Guarder chrono will be +10 higher than an Xortech. hmmm. I think the best was to check ROF by recording your AEGs sound in full auto.
