Probably the worst feature on this gun. The very first time I tried to adjust hop, I did it the way every place i read recommended. Opened it up, took the bolt out, and turned. WAHLAH half my teeth stripped off, so besides the fact that getting this hop up unit out to work on is a major pain, the teeth on it suck. Lastly i dont think there is anyway to fix them, being KWA hasnt put LM4 replacement parts out yet, who knows when we will be able to get them fixed if your unfortunate like myself. This was all a heads up for those of you who are looking to get an LM4 or have one already. If anyone knows how to help, please let me know.

Are you still in warranty? If yes, I'd put in a ticket for warranty service.

I think Boobie here on the forum was able to make a makeshift way to adjust it. I don't remember if he retrofitted some KSC GBBR accessory or something, but I'm pretty sure he found an alternative. Yeah King is right, if you're still in warranty, best bet is to send it in for service

is this a rant or asking for help?
I never had this issue. I can only see people have issue if they try to adjust it in a rush. (KWA/KSC system is way better than WE Open chamber's.

I've adjusted my hop up a few times and haven't had any issues, though I was also being extremely careful with it. Definitely a downside that you can't really adjust it on the fly.

Guarder makes a steel hop shroud for the KSC that sort of works on the KWA.  Ehobby has them, but not in stock.

Airsoft Global has it as it too
http://www.airsoftgl...qk466hl906s8la5
Not sure if in stock or not though

The question is, will it fit the LM4 without mods? And if it matters, US vs Asian version? I will need one for sure, have 2 teeth broken on mine too

I have a guarder steel hop up unit..and no it will not work with the new style LM4 hop up. I haven't found a ball bearing that will work with the hop up bucking I'm using now..as everyone knows I have converted my hop up unit to use the ball bearing design. I'm still using my stock hop up unit. All the teeth have broke on mine. But I took it out and basically made new teeth on the stock hop up unit. With my dremel and a cutting disc I cut teeth into it. The disc was exactly the same width as the gap in between the teeth..so I cut into the hop up unit where the gaps were and I have new teeth now. It made the hop up unit slightly shorter by a millimeter or so..but still works.

The post was more of a heads up to people that the teeth suck, and seeing if anyone had the same problem. not surprising boobie fixed it already... I was flustered that KWA of all brands would do something so fragile.

it seems to me that the hop up teeth are faulty to begin with on some guns, ive adjusted mine loads of times and ususally the tool isnt seated properly cause i just cant get it to most times, ive also used screw driver many times to adjust putting all the pressure on one tooth and all teeth are holding up very well. hope i didnt just jinx myself lol

I have seen numerous reports of teeth stripping but it seems to be a small percentage out of the thousands that have already been sold.  It could have been a bad batch of hop up shroud, user error, or just bad luck,...............who knows. Personally I have messed with the hop-up system countless times and have not experienced any issues.  And no I do not own some kind of "special" version of the LM4 just because I am a KWA forums moderator.
If you find that the hop-up adjustments teeth have stripped, you should first contact KWA customer service whether you are still under warranty or not.

Agreed,
but it still is a real issue. My (and a lot of other's) concern though is that as Canadians we can not, for the most part, take advantage of those warranties. We could send it to KWA, but it would most likely not come back to us and get seized at the border. A lot of paperwork and probably cooperation from KWA on that matter would be needed, as well as patience.

This is not a rant or a complaint about this; I just wanted to put some info on the table while we're at it.

But at the end of the day, the conclusion I take on those kind of issues is this:
I feel that we have taken for granted that airsoft guns break, and upgrades and repairs and what not are a necessity. However, we don't see that kind of vision for anything else that's more easily obtainable over here. We just accepted it as a reality and took it on ourselves to fix our things (this is probably one of the reason why the Airsoft Canada community is thriving with infos - ironically, much less about KWA :P).

That being said, if makers such as KWA (all others as well) would use better alloys, yes it'd be a bit more expensive, but it'd be much more reliable and break less often. The hopup teeth are a good example of this. When it breaks, it almost looks like it was made out of tin.

Had to say it somehwere, there, it's done :P

Your points well taken. :)

But let me ask you something Paradox, is your LM4 a US or Asia version?

It does matter, a lot.
The two are pretty different rifles. Many internal parts are made out of different materials, it's an older design, not US ATF approved. The US design has been improved significantly.
Also, you are not guaranteed warranty service with the Asian LM4...

Oh yeah, I know that. I was not asking for warranty support about that. Jut stating a fact

What I meant does apply to everything basically. Had some issues (that I fixed) with my Kwa M93, and the new owner is having some problems too (now out of warranty anyways) but i couldn't have sent it when under warranty anyways for instance

That's all I meant. Like i said, this is not a complaint or anything :)
